Default Kidney Stones: PAIN that will bring a woman to her knees!

I'm 26 years old and in reasonably good health. Or so I thought. For the past three days, I have had the worst sharp piercing pain in my lower back area on the right hand side, in addition to having to pee like every 3.5 minutes. It was so bad at night, I just couldnt sleep. The "back" pain was so excruciating this morning, I was screaming/crying/gasping/yelling in pain. I couldn't sit, I couldn't stand, I couldn't lay down; I was pacing back and forth and crying at the same time. Looking back, I would say it was almost funny but wow, it was intense at the time.

I went to my university urgent care facility this morning and was immediately hooked up to an IVF that supplied me with Saline and a pain killer. I covered my eyes the entire time. Within 10 minutes, my sobs subsided and I was laying on my back, supremely thankful for modern day technology.

My point in making this thread: Kidney Stones suck. You dont need to have a family history; or in my case any previous symptoms that were really visible at all. This badboy crept right up on me (which doesnt really make too much sense, since a Kidney Stone is a culmination of calcium deposits)

Anyhow, for those who might have the compounded symptoms of frequent urination and horrible and sudden back pain, please dont dismiss it as just back pain and by all means, take a trip down to your physician.

Now, I am taking my much needed dose of Vicodin and heading back to bed

Thank you for reading

LOL not at you but I have KS as I post. I have 6 stones in EACH kidney! I've made 2 trips to the ER. I know your pain. This is my second bout of KS. They do tend to run in the family, and you can still get them regardless. They say your chances of getting them again are also higher once you have had them. They usually want you to take a net and try to catch the stone(s). They analyze them to see what the cause is and what type of formation. There are many. Drink a lot of fluid and I am sure anyone that has a kidney stone would go straight to the ER. It isn't the type of pain where one would just sit back and dismiss it. Kidney stones are much worse than child-birth (imo) by a long shot. Get well.

I feel bad for both of you my sister has had kidney stones 3 different times the last time was a few months ago while she was pregnant. It was so awful watching her throw up from the pain of the kidney stones while she was 6 months pregnant. I hope you both pass these quickly and start feeling better.

OMFG! Wow, guess I have nothing on you. I have pain killers for mine but I can't take them because they make me so tired. I can't function on them. I was home for a full week because of the pain. Do you know why you keep getting yours??? That is insane.

Jill, that's exactly how my mom is! She's been in the hospital like 5 times in the last year for kidney stones. She can't pass them and then she gets really sick.. it's insane!

Did you have to go on a strict diet? My mom's drs gave her a list of like 50 foods she's not supposed to eat, because they make it worse.

Hey guys...I am wondering, since no one has mentioned urination problems in conjunction with the Kidney Stones. Are urination problems something that goes hand in hand with Kidney Stones or is it totally unrelated? I am not entirely clear on that from my doctor and would really like to know some more info, particularly from those who have went through the same thing.

Thank you so much for posting; I really appreciate the responses.

It depends where the stone(s) are located. I don't remember where the location of the last stones were several years back. I also don't think I had urination problems. This time around I am going to the bathroom a lot. I don't have blood in my urine that I know of. What kind of problem are you experiencing?

Awww Gung I hope you feel better! That sounds awful.

I've never had a kidney stone, (knock on wood). I know UTI's cause that kind of urination and gives the burning pain, so I'd imagine if the stone is lower down, it might cause this same symptom?
