Ok. Well if you want to join with me, we can do it together. Be one another's accountability partners. (KLJ and Princess). I added a profile to the P90X site also.

I bought mine through QVC also, but in DEc If you get it now, they have it on 5 flex pays. I've bought from them in the past and they tryly are great on your returns if you end up not liking it. I'm really going to try to give it a concerted effort, but if I just can't do it at all. It WiLL go back.

I did the fitness test today, and passed it. Also, Charles, those are my target areas, but I'm trying to tone all over. Thanks for the heads up though.

I though to buy this instead because, I'm not a big gym membership person, (unless the job is paying for it), but I like the benefit of being able to work out on my own shedule in my home when I feel like it. I do takes best.

I love Cathe Friedrich, but her program as $300!

I'd like to join you if you don't mind! I also recently bought P90x and plan on starting it tomorrow. What equipment did you buy to go with it? They give you a long list, but so far the only things I have are resistance bands, a set of 5lb dumbbells, and a mat. I know it says a chin up bar also, but the doorways in my apt will not support a chin up bar. I guess I will buy more if I find it to be terribly necessary. Let me know how the first day goes for you!

i am starting it tomorrow, but will be doing the lean version first instead of the classic.
also, i might just do the 5 days instead of 6 and 1 day of rest because i know this routine is tough and do not want to burn myself out.
will let you know how i get thru day 1!

eta- my goals are to gain more muscle and lose fat. i am flabby all over since i had my son, 2 yrs ago! i used to work out often but since my 2nd trimester, i stopped. :( i hope to keep this up, i want to go from a 28 jeans to a 26 ideally and look great in a swimsuit for spring and summer.

What time is it?
I've heard so many good things about P90X, is it really 1.5 hours a day? I can't carve out more than 40 or so minutes.

Thanks for Joining everyone!!!! I'm excited. I start today. I took all my measurements, etc. Start my first disc tonight. Kinda scared.

Betsey, I am also doing to lean challenge. My rest day will be Sunday.

Cass, so far, I have the R-bands, a heart monitor (which I may exchange for something else). I also have my other stuff, some individual weights, 5, 2.5 and 3 lbs, Yoga bands, Mat, step, etc.

I Am eventually going to buy the chin up bar, but I have to find the correct one.
How do you know if your doorway supports the traditional chin up bar?

Walmart has a variety, so I'm going to check them out. Link below.

I really want to get a let lift/chin up/etc accessory like attached. Then you have it all in one.

The disc runtimes appear to be approx 50min. I haven't seen anything 1.5hrs.

Oh! Maybe I made the assumption that the 90 meant 90 minutes? I thought I had heard that somewhere. Anyway, best of luck! Please let me know the runtimes.

From here:
http://www.extremely-fit.com/fitness...in-bar-review/

"...Fits doorways up to 32″ wide (sturdy doorframe with trim required—minimum 5″ width, maximum 6.5″).

So if your door frame is in the “standard” or “average” category, you’re more than likely in good shape. But please make sure. I don’t want you to get stuck with a chin up bar that doesn’t work for you. We’ll help you return it for a full refund, but since return shipping is not included by Beachbody (the manufacturer), please double check!"

--------------------

Just measure your door frame.

Each disc (not including ab ripper X) is around 50 - 60 minutes. The Ab Ripper X disc is around 10 minutes.

P = Power
90 = 90 days duration of the program
X = Extreme as this is a harder workout than their original "P90" product.

I have heard some bad things about buying them ebay. You have to be careful because some people are substituting them with burned copies.

Buy it through QVC, they have 5 flex pays right now.

Yep.

Parts of the exercises are pretty intense. BUT you are supposed to do as best as you can and modify accordingly to continue doing the exercise. Such as doing pull ups w/ a chair. It would be best if you don't need a chair, but obviously a chair helps until you build enough strength to do it w/o one. Same goes for all exercises.

The push ups, if you don't have enough strength to maintain an ideal push up position, use your knees instead of your feet. Keep going, and eventually you'll build enough strength to do a proper push up.

The Pylometrics DVD....that one is good. I enjoy it. It works me. Kenpo is good too.

I find the P90X series is VERY largely focused on the pull ups/chin ups. Therefore requiring a lot of arm strength/dexterity. So I'm working my best to build up my arm strength.

After you're done w/ P90X once, do it again a second time. Or switch to something else. Come back to it. And you'll see results.

But nutrition is a HUGE part of P90X (and any other workout for that matter). You need a certain amount of calories, proteins, carbs, and fats to see results. If you don't consume enough, you're not going to see the results and you will not have the energy to do the exercises either. After that, you lose motivation, etc. Repeat cycle again next year.

I also have P90X+ and Insanity...both of which I haven't attempted yet. Scared yet? LOL. I'll be attempting both of these later this year. The P90X+ for more strength building and the Insanity primarily for the intense cardio.

For the ladies here that are interested in P90X.

http://maggiewang.com/2008/03/21/rev...s-and-overview

Maggie has done a wonderful job of documenting her experiences and feedback w/ various workouts. Among them, is P90X. Additionally, her site has a few pics, and feedback on various pull up bars, etc.

Check out her site. Very informative for you all.
