Default Jump Snap - the ropeless jump rope ... anyone?

I was wondering if anyone is familiar with the jump snap? I saw a commercial on tv and thought that it could be a great work out just to tone up a little more. I loved jump roping when I was younger so I think I want to start up again but instead of using a regular rope, I thought jump snap would be a good idea...

Any thoughts?

TIA!

haha, isn't that just called jumping with sticks? i don't mean to rain on your parade, but seriously, that video had scam written all over it.

i think actual jump roping requires the coordination and stamina that makes it a great overall workout. i think i'd be missing something without the "rope" part.

It looks like a waste of money to me, if you are going to jump rope I think you should use an actual jump rope, that way you actually do it properly. This equipment looks about as useful and as fun as holding two deodorant cans (or nothing) in your hands and jumping up and down.

I was just thinking that too. Without the rope, there's a certain level of difficulty of jumping rope removed...and that device looks a little useless to me. Why not just jump in one place, then? I'll stick with my cheap $5 jumping rope!

I agree. I actually sometimes just in place and move my arms like I am holding a jump rope. It works really well...and it is free!

I'll go against the others, here. I looked at it, and it seems like a good idea if you are uncoordinated. After bashing my legs and back with a jumprope, this simulates the sound of the rope hitting the floor, the "feel" of the rope, and you can work on your coordination with it. I dont see it being the same as just doing the arm movements, since you get the sound and feel together. I won't buy one, since I dont like jumprope all that much, but if it gets you to move and sweat, I think its a fun idea! Plus, no welts!

I have a friend who can't jump rope or should I say can't jump rope well. The 2 hops for one rotation like when you are a kid. Jumping rope is a great workout so I can see how this may help someone who is jump rope challenged.

I'd give it a try. I would like to try all of those fitness products and see which ones really work.

i guess it depends on how tangled you get in the rope...
and when i read the topic...the first thing that i thought of was the "bend and snap" from legally blonde

Yeah - I don't see the difference - rope or no rope - you're paying just to have these things in your hands? You could use anything similar shaped couldn't you?

If the sound is a factor...why not just use something that makes a sound when you jump? A modified shaker??
