I think I broke my foot??

At work a crate fell dead on right on my foot! I was wearing Mary Janes and the edge of the crate fell right onto the exposed part of my foot. It hurt all during Mother's Day dinner with my family and we decided if it doesnt feel better and go down in swelling I'm going to the ER tomorrow and calling in sick. Ughh!! I don't want to wear a cast if it's broken. When I broke my arm (and I didnt even feel it!) I had such a hard time with my cast on my right arm, I'm right handed. Now what?? How can I drive???

Gosh I would think it would hurt a great deal more of it was broken. Could it be sprained?

My older sister broke her foot a couple of weeks ago--actually, her fifth metatarsal. She fell and sort of rolled her ankle and landed squarely on her foot. She had pain applying pressure, the foot became swollen and very bruised.
She went home and by the next day it was apparent she had to go for an x-ray.
You should probably go see a doc just to be on the safe side-- you won't necessarily be put in a plaster cast if the foot is broken as they have air and walking casts now which allow for more freedom. Sorry about your foot though!

I don't think you need to go to Emergency, just get to a regular doc right away for xrays.

In the meantime, ice it and keep it elevated.

Just make sure you see a specialist and sometimes you can still walk on it even if it's fractured. I am currently in a cast and didn't think it was fractured but it was a hairline fracture. make sure you elevate it and stay off it as much as possible.Feel free to email me,David.

Well, the pain went down and so did the swelling. But it still hurts when I apply pressure, and when I walk, or when my foot moves. I can move my toes, however when I broke my arm, I didnt even know it. The pain wasn't killer, it was like my foot. And I was able to still move my finger. I may have fractured it. I've got an appointment with my doctor in 3 hours. I will let you know what happened. Thanks everyone.

Also, if it IS a hairline fracture it will NOT show up on XRays for a few weeks. Hairline fractures are so faint, they will not show up on an XRay until it is already mending itself. So when it DOES show up, that is the calcification/scarring that is already starting on the bone
