Default Help me lose 50 lbs!
Hey all,

I really need some support losing this weight! My BFF just got lap band and I DONT want to be the fat friend! Don't get me wrong, I am super happy that she is making a decision to lose weight, but I want to go about it in a natural way. My fiance is also working to lose some weight, but it is just so much easier for men to lose! So here's my plan...and please give me feedback!

No Carbs! I am such a carb addict...so no refined carbs and very little to no bread of any kind.

Lots of veggies...I used to be a vegetarian so this should be easy

Lots of lean meats...I like grilled chicken and lean steak. No pork, no fish...I just don't eat those!

Exercise! I am going to walk on the treadmill for 20 mins every morning, take a walk w. the doggy at night and do 4-5 45 minute classes at the gym each week. Usually the gym classes are interval training, kickboxing, weight lifting or yoga.

So, please give me feedback on what you think and give any tips on how you lost the weight too!

i would love to lose about 50 lbs as well...we should be diet buddies. i know that you don't know me and i don't know you, but it's easier if you have someone that you feel accountable to [does that make sense?]

i just really need a kick in the butt to get me going. i have a gym where i live so all i have to do is go, and yet i have been only 3 times since i have lived here [over a yr]. i would just rather be lazy on the couch and then B and moan about the extra weight that i have left from my baby girl.

i also am a huge fan of carbs!! oh cookies and pizza are a couple of my favs. so i will really have to work on my will power.

yeah i am going to try to get to the gym tomorrow. no scratch that, i am going tomorrow...i will do it darn it!! ...i also am going to be sure that i start taking my supplements again, eating better, drinking more water and staying away from the bad carbs....but they are so tasty!

what are your plans for tomorrow?

i plan on:
a weigh-in...im not sure if i should do it during the morning or at night...hmm. can you give me a heads up on that anyone...
charting what i eat and count calories [there was a really useful site that you can do it on line...can someone give me the link again pls]
having only one soda tomorrow the rest will be green tea and water.
going to the gym in the evening for about 45mins
maybe some yogalates in the morning

thats awesome good luck to you! I'm trying to lose weight too, I was on depo(birth control) and no matter what I did my weight would not go down, but now I'm off it and ive lost almost fifteen pounds over the last 2 1/2 months.
I've been doing about the same as you, eating better (except i kept the carbs in..mmmm)and excercising. I also go for weekly bike rides, which help alot i think

Danielle - in the morning before eating but after pooping - otherwise you're just weighing what you ate that day along with your actual self.

A few good sites are sparkpeople, fitday, and thedailyplate - I use spark, people on here will vouch for all of 'em!

Hey good luck! I'm trying to lose weight too. I thought I'd share some tips that have helped me. (This is the stuff I keep telling myself)

If you ever don't feel like going to the gym/gym classes, listen to a song that makes you want to dance... that might change your mind.

Cut out processed foods, eat more salad.
Don't totally cut out the treats because you might end up missing them so much you cave in at the end of the day and binge on them (done this myself).
Use moderation and common sense- you can't lose weight eating high calorie food all the time.
Make sure your new diet is something you can maintain for life. Otherwise the weight will come right back.
Drink lots of water! And look at how much alcohol you drink... that stuff is LOADED with calories.

Be patient... it takes time to put on the weight and it'll take time to lose it.

I'm sure you'll start feeling great soon with your new diet & exercise regime... I always feel loads better when I've been exercising.

I would not recommend "No Carbs!" There are good carbs out there and your body needs them for fuel. It is not healthy to cut out a complete food group. You should be eating whole grains and fruit, both of which are carbs.

Best wishes for success!
