Default Have you ever been tested for HIV?

I got my first test last year and will get another one this year.

I love feeling so responsible and it only takes a minute to do so.

Yes!! More people should do it. When I was single, I would take anyone I dated to be tested before anything happened! It's alike a huge weight lifted off one's shoulders.

It was required when I applied for a life insurance policy, so yes I have.

Although I probably should have had it done before, I never even thought of it. But it was routine to test for HIV with the blood they took when I was pregnant each time, so I know I've been tested and been clean 3 times. Barring serious injury (blood transfusion) or infidelity (I am married, and I hope that never becomes an issue!), I hope to never have to be tested again!

Yes, because let's face it, you really never know. Getting tested is the right thing to do.

Hi ladies -- where do you go to get tested? I've only slept with one person in my life, and I trusted him a LOT but now I want to make sure (before I do anything else with any other person) that I'm absolutely disease-free.

I have when there was any time I was directly exposed to blood at work......better to err on the side of caution than always wonder KWIM??

At least at my work, if you are exposed to blood they let you go to the hospital on duty, get tested, and of course they pay for it.....it is kind of like why would I NOT go??

I've been tested one time. Oddly enough, it wasnt the fear of a partner being infected, it was the fear of getting HIV from the NAIL SALON! I was getting a mani/pedi religiously for a couple of years, when I saw a story on the news about a lady being infected with HIV from a dirty nail file. It really did scare me, so I decided to get one done.

It was negative, for the record.

white flowers: Im pretty sure you can get one done at your local Health Dept. I think Planned Parenthood might do it too, but Im not sure.
I got mine done at my Doctors office, he had actually asked me before if I wanted one, but I never felt the need.

Yes, absolutely. I had a physical last fall after a few years lapsing so I had an HIV test along with BP, cholesterol, STDs the whole works. I am negative and never doubted that result...but you can't be too careful so I urge others to get tested just to be sure.

I have. It's definitely important to get tested. I don't care if I've been with the same person for 50 years, I will continue to get tested because let's face it, we aren't with our partner 24 hours a day and you just never know.
