I dont want to sound mean but what dentist do you go to? Good thing you left, some people is too afraid of saying anything.
I always see my dentist using clean tools that are wrapped in plastic because they have been sterilized, same with my manicurist and my gyno.

Interesting that most people on here say they were tested but it wasn't because they were worried. I was worried. I have had 4 tests, I think. The first two were just because I was single and wanted to be able to say I had been tested if I had a new relationship. I wasn't overly worried these times but when you get in that 'results' room with one person, you start to sweat anyway.

I had a brief fling with a person who turned out to be a bit nutty and I knew he had been stationed in Haiti at one time before we met. How on earth I let him talk me into no condom, I don't know. After that, I was too afraid to get tested. I was in denial for about 3 years and just pushed the fear out of my brain. So when I got pregnant, testing was mandatory. I sweated bullets the entire time I waited for the results. It turned out was fine.

I got one that was mandatory when I joined the military. They do all kinds of blood tests and vaccines, and also when I worked for a hospital.

im sure all dentists will use cleaned and steriled tools. but if for some insane reason they dont. hiv virus only last 30-60 seconds outside of the human body. so even if someone with hiv was seen to by your dentist and had their teeth picked and bled on with a tool and then used the same tool on your teeth. i doub that can all be done in 30-60 seconds

No. Have only had one partner ever and he has been tested, he's in the military... And we're married! And I'm 19... Lots of reasons why I haven't done it yet- but I might do it eventually because you really never know! Anything could happen.
Everyone should get tested at some point, especially if you have had/will have multiple partners in which case you should go every 6 mo - a year.

Yes, last summer. It's quite nerve racking to wait two weeks to get the results but it's something everyone should do as a responsibility.

That was in 1996, I imagine most places do it today, so if you are married, you have probably had the test even if you didn't realize it!
When I got married in '94 nothing like that was required for a license in NC.

Mentioning dentists. I was having a root canal and went to the dentist. While sitting in the chair, the assistant was putting out the instrument and attaching them with no gloves on. When the dentist came back I told him what she had done and said this is unacceptable. He had her come back in put on gloves and change out all of the instruments in front of me. I am sure she knew I mentioned it but I did not care.

Yup! It was part of the annual health screening that we are entitled to, as a company benefit.
