Default *drinking your calories*

Hi all,
I have such a problem with drinking away my calories. I am currently dieting and am watching my calories, but I am having a hard time with my love for coffee, and my vanilla creamer. Too many calories. But I love it. Does anyone else suffer something similar?

YES! I am a manager at starbucks and the free drinks are VERY tempting. I'll have my bad and good days. You just have to be aware of what the calorie counts are. For you starbucks heads, try nonfat (it really only saves fat not cals), sugarfree syrups/splenda, and STAY AWAY from frappucinnos! I know they are tasty but they are SO bad for you. They are a nice treat once and a while but we have people who get the ventis everyday!!! It grosses me out.

Also to add i feel really bad after a day of drinking in my calories, thn eating lunch and dinner isn't so much fun. It can really add up fast. Esp if you don't drink diet soda. Try water! It good for you in every way.

I am trying to drink more water. I squeeze a lemon in it so it has a bit of taste. It is so hard. I gave up Fraps a long time ago. I haven't had one in about 2 years. I will not allow myself to have one either due to the fact that one will not be enough, and I will fall right back into that trap.

When I worked I used to drink a starbucks frap everyday in the afternoon (in the morning I'd get a latte). I was careful with my food and I walked a lot but still the weight slowly piled on. Luckily I was in the normal weight range so any gain wasn't too noticeable. Now I don't work so I drink black coffee (at home) and no more fraps. They are so delish but oh so bad. I drink water (I don't drink juice or soda--- not even diet). I prefer to eat my cals, far more satisfying.

I refuse to give up my flavored creamers

But all I drink otherwise is water, so coffee has the only calories I am drinking away. I only have 1-2 cups of coffee a day, so I'm hoping that's not too bad.

I also avoid frapps like the plague. I'll get one once in a great while but not very often. I can't believe how bad those things are for you

It's not a Starbucks drink, but I used to love those IC Mocha drinks at Panera Bread...then I read the ingredients.

It consisted only of some sort of coffee flavored liquid, chocolate syrup, ice and (here's the kicker) a ton of half and half cream. It made me want to vomit just thinking about drinking all that sugar and fat.

I switched over to hot skim mochas, only once a week, though (still not the healthiest by any means).

Shoegal, how many cups of coffee do you drink a day? I don't think adding a creamer or two to one cup of coffee is disastrous to your diet. If you're drinking two or more cups, though, I'd maybe try to start drinking it black.

Hehe sorry, but what do you mean by "black?" Is that just coffee straight up from the carafe, or could you also add a little bit of Splenda or no calorie flavored sweetener?

I did!! But I found a good replacement (actually mine was exactly the same thing - vanilla creamer!)

I make coffee, with the sugar free calorie/fat free vanilla syrup I bought from Starbucks and skim milk... and it's almost the same! After a while you just don't even notice anymore.

I make a cup of coffee every morning and put vanilla creamer in it. I love that. But, all the rest of the day I only drink water. Have you tried your coffee just black? Maybe you could taper down, like put less creamer in each day until you barely have any...?

Ladies, if I tell you how much coffee I drank, you wouldn't believe me. I gave that up fast as soon as the scale started going east. So now I will have my coffee in the morning and sometimes at night, if I am out with friends for dinner or dessert. But the issue is sometimes when I'm out, I like my Starbuck iced coffee. I need the vanilla syrup in it, which I've switched to sugar free, and then I started doing skim milk. I wish I could give up coffee. The rest of the day, I drink water with lemon.

I refuse to drink calories unless there is alcohol attached to it

Ok, that is a slight lie as I do have a weakness for iced chocolate, but I only alllow myself to indulge about once a month.

I don't drink any soda (including diet), juice, milk or coffee. I mainly drink water or herbal teas. I will also have the juice of a lemon diluted in a large glass of water in the morning because it is aparently good for the liver (????)

Eating calories is way more fun than drinking them.

As a life time member weight watcher, who lost almost 50 lbs, while drinking Starbucks frapuccino's almost everyday, I completely disagree about them being evil for you. I think it's possible to enjoy your frapuccino's and still lose weight. It all depends on what kind you get. Sometimes for lunch I get a venti coffee frapuccino light, which is only 200 calories.

Considering how many calories is a typical sandwich or a bagel, if you get a coffe light frapuccino for lunch and nothing else, you can certainly lose weight.

I think most people don't realize though, that you can't have everything and lose weight , your body only needs so many calories, but whatever form they come in ( salad or a frapuccino) is up to you.

So if you love frapuccino's, get them, just make sure you get the healthier option and not eat a giant meal right afterwards.

I think you can also add fat-free whipped cream to your coffee, there are a few that are 0-5 calories per tsp, so if you add 3-4 tea spoons, you are only looking at 15-20 calories.
