-Yes, and my appointment is tomorrow. I have also gained 12 pounds, my cholesterol and my BP are up. It is not going to be a fun visit all around

_well. it didn't go too badly today - it was the easiest and least uncomfortable exam I have ever had! And, being over 50, she says I only have to have one every 3 years! Yay!.

My BP was way down - I was very worried about what I was seeing her about a couple weeks ago, must have raised my BP.

Sigh, but the cholesterol - I used to have 184 and all the other numbers were good. Now it is over 200 (not WAy over) Now she wants me as close to vegetarian diet as possible - sent me home with a list. Yuck Yuck Yuck Yuck I love my meat. Oh well, going to work on this diet.

It is not the pap smear that I am uncomfortable with, it is the position I am in to obtain it. Move down, move down, move down.

They dont bother me, but I had to have one when I found out I was pregnant and it was the WORST.... It was very uncomfortable and I bled for a couple of days( sorry TMI)... Now after I have had my cerclage to keep my cervix closed.. I have to get an internal ultra sound- they put a rubber on that thing and stick it in, just had it done yesterday and man it was SO SO uncomfortable- it hurt like hell- everything down there is sensitive right now.....
Right now I never want to see another PE### AGAIN damn it...lol

Hate them. That metal thing hurt so freaking bad! So awkward and uncomfortable.

Oh no, hope this thread didn't scare you! You'll be fine. The good thing about them is they don't last long- they are quick! The best thing you can do is relax and that will help make it easy. After having a few, I do get more used to them. I don't find them pleasant, but... Who knows, maybe you won't mind at all! There are plenty of people on here that are fine with them.

It's really not THAT bad. True story: in March 2006 my schedule was such that I ended up with all my annual doctors' appointments in one week. Incidentally, because my family on the maternal side has a long history of aggressive early-onset colon cancers, this was also the week I had my appointment for my first colonoscopy. Yeah. but you do what you've got to do. I had my labs and annual physical on a Monday, prepped for the colonoscopy (don't ask!) on Tuesday, did the colonoscopy on Wednesday and on Thursday I had the pap smear.

By comparison, the pap smear felt like a vacation!!!!

I was just laying there getting all cozy in the paper gown with the feet in stirrups just thinking "Thank god it's not another colonoscopy".

So hey at least you don't have a colonoscopy next week!

And maybe take an advil or motrim about 20 minutes before you go in... You'll be fine!

I even have a lady Dr. and am still not comfortable with them. It just seems too personal for anyone to be poking and proding down there.
