Does anyone else absolutely LOATHE pap smears?

What bothers me most about pap smears and gynecological exams is how they have you cover your legs with a blanket, almost tenting the area for the doctor and separating you from what's going on.

I'm sorry, but it's my body and I should be able to have the thing done sans blanket. Or maybe they just use it so women don't get freaked out seeing the speculum go in.

I hate them! I just went in yesterday to have mine done. I always get so nervous, but I'm glad they are over so quickly.

I don't think anyone likes them. I just get through it knowing that it is important.

I don't think any woman likes them (well, maybe a twisted one

) but I think the older you get the less they bother you...
I don't mind it so much... It is just a little uncomfortable and it's over very quickly...

I would have the Pap smear....

I also think the better you like your physician, the better it is... I have finally found someone that I just love....I am very comfortable with her...

They're never comfortable

I would never subject myself to yearly pap smears if they weren't necessary.

Nope, just metal at my doc! Plastic would be a bit nicer. And at mine they don't use any "jelly" because I asked and they said it could taint the results!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates them. :)

i've never thought my gynaecologist was hot which is probably just as well, imagine how awkward that would be

See that's not cool.

Maybe it's a per doc kind of thing.

Because my doc uses it twice, he puts a tiny bit on the speculum and then uses a tiny bit more for the physical exam. He doesn't use much, but some would probably better than nothing.

It's never bothered me. It's painless (just a little pressure) and provides very important information.

i've always been matter-of-fact about them. like pinksuadesoho said: after childbirth it really is nothing. if i had any modesty before childbirth it went right out the window after that experience. if it will make you feel better look up what a guy has to endure for his prostate check-up!

I had one two days ago, I hate them, it doesn't hurt but it's the strangest feeling, really horrible, makes my stomach turn
