Default Dealing with friends whilst on a diet

Hello I have recently started a diet and really would like to keep it to myself. I have started and failed quite a few diets and don't really want to have to explain myself, this time, to friends and work colleagues. I just wondered if anyone had a few tips and strategies with dealing with this situation. Thanks.

I don't know why your friends would ask you about this if it is personal. If they wonder why you are not eating/ not eating a lot, just tell them you had a big breakfast/ are not hungry. I would also suggest saying "Its personal". They will shut up then!

It is a female thing... I think many women tend to be self conscious about their weight and the thought of someone else dieting or doing 'better' freaks many women out. I see it happen all the time, even feel it sometimes myself, though I really do not want to!!

friends are supportive of my workouts & diet, my family doesn't really understand so i don't share information with them on it. when i go to family events, i just say things to steer clear of the word diet: "i just ate, i'm not hungry"; "my stomach hurts, no thank you..." sometimes it's better not to explain anything to anybody and just go about your business with what you need to do for yourself.
it's challenging with people who contradict themselves too. i have aunts that say, "wow you've put on some weight since last i saw you...", then 10 minutes later she'll tell me, "let's eat! let's eat! why aren't you eating!!"
people can be so overwhelming sometimes and so maybe you should figure out how you can stay focused on your own self and what you need to get done for yourself-even if that means distancing for a while.
well i hope i was able to pitch in with my $0.02

good luck w/this!

Uuugh, I so hear you. I'm in exactly the same situation. I have found the "I'm doing a detox" excuse to be quite good. people seem to be far more willing to accept this as a reason rather than a diet! In my office, the moment you say the word diet people start trying to force feed you to eat chocolate! Good luck with the dieting...it's challenging, but I love watching the scales go down week by week...

How about, I'm cutting out excess carbs and fats and leave it at that.
