Default Damn Boils

Have any of you ever had one?

They are caused by virus in your body -

My daughter had to go to the emergency room yesterday and the doctor walks in, takes a look and says "yep, that's bad". He turns to get a needle and proceeds to put it in the center of this boil. My daughter asked him if he was going to stick it there and he says "well, I cant wish it away". Horrible bedside manner.

Anyway, he gives her the shot, she screams.....loud, and he then proceeds to get a knife and cuts it open and all that junk just started spewing out. By the time he finished, it was a big hole and had turned her leg black and blue. The coverage is huge. No stitches because it needs to be open and breathing new air in it. She got hydrocodone which is the last thing she needs. She could hardly walk, but she wasn't about to miss her brother's graduation ceremony.

These boils are just nasty!!!

Anyone else have one and needed it lanced?

Is a boil like a cyst? I had a cyst on my tailbone in college and it was awful.

very much like one. They are painful and sometimes, have to be lanced, or cut open.

Did they check her for MRSA? If she has had a boil before and this one was that bad... it is likely MRSA. Please get checked as it can be life threatening if not treated properly.

I had to have my cyst openeed and had to leave it open to heal from inside out. It hurt so bad before I couldn't sit in class.
