Default beginning to think thin is unattractive
I always believed that thin is in and one could never be too thin. I'm 5ft6 and 115 pounds and know that I look lousy. I also feel lousy from not getting enough nutrition. But psychologically I feel better being low-weight. Lately I've seen tons of average-size people that look amazing. Their hair and skin glow and they are full of energy. I don't think Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, and Tori Spelling look too good right now. Marie Osmond (to me) looks much better than those skinny celebs!

Have you tried incorporating exercise into your routine? I am 5'5" and about 115 too and I know that sometimes I can look not so great bc my face is thin, but as long as I eat well and exercise I look much better. Not to mention the fact that I sleep so much better when I have been very active throughout the day. Also--and I know this is easier said than done--but maybe gain a little bit of weight, perhaps it will not feel "strange" to you and you will find that you are happier and feel better about yourself. Not sure if this helps at all, but hoping it does.

lindsay lohan and tori spelling look horrendous. paris hilton (even though i hate her) appears to be toned and relatively healthy. that being said, I prefer meat on bones. I think any person who looks like they are starving looks terrible, in every sense of the word.

you need to feel comfortable in your skin, and that is all relative. it appears you are not comfortable with how you look and only you can change that. good luck.

I agree with chinahopes on this. Everyone is built differently and that's the beauty of it. You have to be comfortable with what you got! Good luck!

Yeah, I think Paris Hilton is glowing as skinny as she is. She's also toned. Lindsay Lohan on the other hand seems to be the flabby kind of really skinny. Nothing is visibly hanging loose, but if you were to poke at her, you'd probably lose the tip of your finger in flesh. Just because someone is really thin, doesn't mean they're unhealthy, underweight, sickly in appearance, etc. Some people have finer bone and muscular structure than other people as it's genetics, and so their normal weight is less than a medium- or thick-boned (no euphemism here, I mean literally) person's.

Besides the mentioning of aesthetics, but going below your weight range just isn't good for your health - your body can go into panic mode, and your organs won't get the support they need, and it can ruin your metabolism.
Also, as you get older, you will regret the super thin look because it will age your appearance and shorten your lifespan. The best "thin" is achieved through proper nutrition, healthy foods and lifestyle, and physical activity - and that will keep you looking HOT and Healthy as you age.

This is mean, but true: Lohan looks 10 years older than her actual age these days due to drugs, alcohol, smoking, sun exposure, late nights, stress, and inappropriate nutrition. You can see it on her face. That beautiful girl is a cautionary tale for lifestyle choices.

Hokaplan, you say psychologically you feel better but your opening thread doesn't sound that way when you used the word "lousy".

Ultra thin looks terrible imo. The best is a healthy diet, weight, and exercise program.

If at all possible, you should see someone specializing in disordered eating (not saying you have an ED, but getting psychological satisfaction out of a lower number on the scale when you know you look and feel lousy is a sign that you can benefit from seeing someone) who can help you reconcile all those thoughts & feelings.

I hope you can find a weight that makes you happy, I do agree to some extent - I looked a bit younger in the face when I was a bit bigger but I just want to be THIN. ( I'm not but I keep trying to get there. I am a world grand champion at gaining weight!)

Sounds to me like you need to get adequate nutrition (meaning eat more) but exercise to keep yourself at a "happy" weight that you feel good about psychologically. Working out makes me feel amazing even if the number on the scale doesn't reflect exactly what I want it to.

If you feel lousy, your body is trying to tell you something. Have you thought about scheduling a visit with your doctor or a nutritionist?
