I should see a nutritionist. I have a very poor diet. And I agree that I should exercise and not worry about # on scale. I began this thread because lately I noticed some beautiful people who are not skinny. And some skinny people that I've seen around town don't look as vibrant.

Just to start really small... how much water do you drink? When I started drinking a lot more water my skin got all glowy and pretty like I had never seen it before.

I'm about your height and in my 20's I weighed around 105-110 pounds. But I ate a lot. I was just naturally thin then. But in my 30's I weigh around 130 but I eat a lot less!!! I'm always exercising, watching what I eat, etc. Are you not eating enough calories on purpose because you want to remain your size? Honestly I liked me when I was thin and I like me now too. I just really try to focus on my emotional well being first because that seems to really make a difference on how I look on the outside. Stress definitely makes me look like Lindsey Lohan

I try to not eat a lot of calories because all weight goes right to my belly. It is genetic from my dad's side. If I keep my weight low, I feel that I don't look as out of proportion. My legs and arms are quite thin but I always have a belly that no amount of exercise seems to help. I thought of a tummy-tuck (had 3 kids) but decided to embrace my belly. I want to try to be a positive role model for my daughter and accept what I have. The belly just really grows with any extra pounds that I might put on.

'Glow' has much more to do with health than weight. Someone can be really skinny but if they look after themselves and are naturally thin they glow and look great. i.e. Miranda Kerr. If they make poor lifestyle choices, no matter what their weight, they're going to look terrible. i.e. Lindsay Lohan.

It's just that weight is such a glaring marker at first sight it's what you're focusing on. But look closely at an overweight person who makes poor lifestyle choices too. Their skin will be just as dull, hair lacklustre, eyes tired. Healthy looks good. People blur the lines too much between health and weight. Not that it's surprising in our culture, but anyway.

A nutritionist is a great idea.

Thin IS unattactive... to a certain extent. I've suffered from anorexia my whole life. Never thought I was fat as such though (maybe at one stage, in hospital) but I've always hated having skinny little wrists/arms.. Alot of skinny people are not curvey & curvey is attractive. Luckily as skinny as I am, I'm also curvey BUT I want to gain a healthy weight & I'm sure I could only look better with a little bit of meat on my legs & in places!

Oh, also! The best way to gain a bigger cup size!... not that small boobies are a problem - smaller boobies are the best! woohoo!

I've always had a problem with my weight from my earliest memory, so I've never been thin. Average would be a dream for me. I do know what you mean though about a healthy look being the most beautiful and it's not necessarily related to weight.

In a large mall over the weekend I saw so many teenage girls that were stick thin--there was hardly any meat on their bones. It reminded me of war refugees who have starved. It's not a good look, but how much are they influenced by some of the celebs they see all the time? I'm sure the teen favorites when I was that age would be considered fat these days.

"Attractive" and "unattractive" are such subjective terms. Thin isn't necessarily unattractive. Neither is not as thin. I really dislike hearing people say thin is unattractive. I'm thin, and I look just fine. But I eat right, drink a ton of water, exercise and don't put tons of chemicals into my body. It's so much more about taking care of yourself with diet and exercise than anything else. Plus, some people are just naturally skinny. That's just the way they are. Why are they "unattractive" because of this?

^^ i think what she meant was looking rough...dark circles under eyes, almost sickly looking from not taking care of their body and eating correctly. i don't think she was saying that anyone that is skinny is unattractive, but the ones that aren't taking care of themselves to be skinny. IMO there is "healthy skinny" and then "yuck skinny", and yuck skinny isn't nice.

starlux - I agree with you. I need to rethink this. I think that I meant that skinny people that starve and don't get the nutrients they need are unattractive IMO. I'm thin because I don't eat healthily. I also don't think I look that great but it might be just cause I'm PMS right now.

If you don't eat enough - that could also be the reason you have the belly bloat, not just having children. Not eating enough messes up your metabolism and your body's ability to process nutrients and can lead to the bloat. Your body goes into starvation mode, and when you do eat, your body wants to store all the food instead of processing it.

I have thin arms and legs and a belly bloat too - but last week I started a plan where I am getting my nutrients and taking my vitamins and drinking plenty of water and my tummy bloat has already decreased. I also have some kind of wheat allergy (?) that causes me to bloat, so I make sure to eat wheat products in small amounts.

Take care of yourself Hokaplan.

Ah, I see more what you were saying now. I agree, "yuck skinny" isn't good, like Lindsay Lohan. You can tell she's so unhealthy and I agree, that's not attractive.

i prefer myself skinnier.
i used to weight 110 and i am 5'7...and since 07 i gained like 15 pounds. honestly i don't like it. i could feel it, i still look pretty much the same b/c of my height but i just feel different...i don't want to go back to 110 but i think i need to loss like 5-10 pounds.
having a bf doesn't help...higher happy index makes me want to eat.

Your bone size is going to determine what you should weigh, not just your height. The weigh charts now take into consideration small, medium, & large boned. There is about a 30 pound spread for the same height.
