Hi guys, quick question. I've been wearing contacts with no problems for 8 years now. The current kind I'm on is the type where you wear them all month, then throw them away and spend one night "naked" (no contacts), then put in a brand new pair the next morning.
I have no complaints about this kind, except this: when I wake up in the morning, my eyes are so dry that I can only open them about 1 mm, until I use eyedrops. The kind I use is Visine for Contact Wearers, which I love. When I mentioned this to my eye doctor, he said I should not be using Visine every day, but then I clarified that it was the kind called "for contact wearers," and he seemed to relax. Now, I just saw an article about the 10 medications doctors themselves wouldnt take, and Visine was on there, for being too harsh for frequent use (something about the capillaries in your eyes). So, my question is this: if regular Visine is bad to use everyday, is my V.F.C.W. okay? I mean, are the formulas different enough so that its okay? Or should I use something else? THanks in advance! |

If it happens to you every day... you might want to think about switching to ones you take out each night. Some people (like my brother) have no problems with dry eyes and others (like me) get dry eyes in the morning even without wearing contacts!
I don't know anything specifically about visine, but it looks like the active ingredient "Tetrahydrozoline HCl 0.05% - Redness reliever" is not in the contacts version. |
