I have been taking this new pill for a week and I also love it! I was wondering though, the effectiveness rate looks a lot higher for this pill than my last one. My last one said 99.9% effective with perfect use, and the lo loestrin says 2 to 4 out of 100 women may get pregnant. Do you know why this is so different?

Just a small update - I had my period for 4 days and it was extremely light. No headaches, cramps, or anything! I didn't have any breakouts which was a first. I started my new pack yesterday, and don't have a stomach ache like I usually get at the start of a new pack. Love this pill and highly recommend it! I will update mid-month again re: break through bleeding

Update: I've taken 2 complete weeks of this pill and I love that I feel totally normal emotionally! No ups and downs of mood or anything. I did have some mild cramping the first week, and for the past 3 days I have been lightly spotting. It seems to be a bit heavier today. I'm going to give this pill three months with the spotting though because I know it will take some time to get used to this low dose, so I really hope it goes away because other than the spotting I feel great!

Yes please let us know mid-month, it sounds like i'm about 3 weeks behind you on this pill and I'm on day 3 of breakthrough bleeding...it was so light yesterday and the day before but today it's a bit heavier but I'm hoping tomorrow it will vanish! I can't wait to see if I have the 4-day period like you. Can you tell me when you started bleeding? (first white pill, first placebo, if you remember?)

So far I have no breakout issues (my skin actually seems a little better), no mood issues, no breast tenderness or growth (thank goodness!), and as long as the spotting goes away as I continually use this pill I am in love!

I am on day 10 of month 2 and am spotting again. Hopefully this stops after three mths because I would hate to have to switch onto a stronger dose pill. Everything else is fine..moods are normal, no weight gain, etc.

I think my period started on day 2 of the white pill!

I am on day 18 of pack 1 and have been spotting since about day 6. I really hope this goes away (though I'm sure I'll see it next month). I'm hoping that it will take a few months for my uterus to realize that it doesn't have enough hormones to even build up a lining (and I usually bleed A LOT, so maybe it needs some time to adjust to this). That's my non-medical degree guess, though it could be crazy.

I was LOVING it for about the first 7 days—no side affect, no weight gain, maybe even some weight loss!, amazing skin. On the 8th day I started spotting—no big deal, it's a low dose and you have to get used to it....I think that's when I was posting here. But I didn't stop spotting. After about 10 days in I started experiencing terrible horrible burning sensations. I went to see my doctor who tested for everything and said that I had NOTHING (LITERALLY NOTHING--I was tested for everything under the sun and had to wait for weeks for some results). I asked my doctor if it could be the Lo Loestrin OR the constant spotting, since those were the only things that I had changed in a month, and she told me "absolutely not," to "check my soap," and to "use vagisil".

So I saw a different doctor, and the problem was discovered: Surprise! it was the Lo Loestrin birth control.

Please take this tale with a grain of salt—Lo Loestrin could turn out to be THE PILL for you.

But I wish someone had given me this information: I think I spent 30 out of 32 days sobbing uncontrollably from the unexplained burning agony in my vagina. Vagisil did not help, at all, and neither did cortozone, nor, eventually, lydocaine.

After a few more weeks of agony, crying, researching vulvodynia and unexplained, chronic vaginal pain, thinking I would never wear pants again or be able to go through a day without thinking about my poor vagina, I went to see another doctor. I started explaining my symptoms and began with "I started a new BC, Lo Loestrin...also I've been experiencing some burning..." and she stopped me immediately. She said "it's the pill," that the estrogen dose was way too low for my body, and that I was mimicking menopausal symptoms of irritation, dryness, and thinning of the vaginal walls. She was incredulous that my other doctor did not think this could be the case. She retested me for everything under the sun, just in case, and again all was negative. She also added that Lo Loestrin is an incredibly low dose for any woman.

I stopped the pill, and after 2 months, was 100% better and back to my old self.

Lo Loestrin effectively ruined two months of my life. I wish this information had been available to me, if not to save me 2 months of utter hell, then to show up when I searched for my problems on the internet and give me some piece of mind.

Maybe this pill would be great for you. I have had people tell me they are on it and completely love it. I believe that I might need a higher dose of estrogen than some other people might (I found the most success with Levora and didn't like my mood swings on Loestrin, but Levora is not a very high dose), and I haven't read any stories of any women with the same result. But if you start to experience some weird symptoms, maybe this post will help you figure out why!

I had been on the pill for many years in college (and before). Different pills for about 8 years or so. After college, I stopped taking it because I didn't really feel like any of them were doing the job AND i ballooned. Literally a pound every day and I wasn't eating differently. It was horrible.
For the past year or so I had been bleeding very heavily (I always have heavy periods) but I would say worse than usual. I was getting my period every 18-21 days and would leave my house sitting on a towel in my car just incase I leaked (gross, i know). I would use extra super super overnight pads and just all of a sudden I would have a rush so it wasn't a question of me not changing a pad. I'm talking brand new pad or tampon before I leave the house, get in my car and all of a sudden it's a water fall. Not good.
Talked to my doctor about it and she suggested I try lo loestrin. I'm not the biggest fan of the pill in general but considering this has the lowest amount of hormones I thought I would give it a try to help with the bleeding. I sell to ob/gyn's so have the scoop on what patients think of a lot of these pills so asked a lot of my offices what they thought. Most told me that they had "surprise" periods because you can't even say that it happens every month on lo-loesterin. This seems to be true. Sometimes, I'll spot in between pills but then not get a period at all. My cramps are starting to get bad again (now i've been on it about 8 months?) but the bleeding is so much better and light. I wanted to go on SOMETHING for a year to try to regulate things and then go off again. We'll see. So far, I'm happy. I was hoping this was one of those pills where I dropped a few pounds (as a bonus) but nope, stayed exactly the same which I guess is good. I was extremely worried I was going to pack on the pounds. So that's my story
My sister had the similar experience of another poster on beyaz. Horrible head aches (migraines even and shes' never had those) and also hysterical, sad, freaking out. I am serious we were all scared of her so she had to come off with the way it was changing her hormones. There are so many pills to choose from that sometimes one thing may work for on person and not another.

I took it for several months, and it gave me severe headaches and dizzy spells. I guess that people do react differently to different things.

I just started taking this and have no side effects yet. But I was wondering when you started taking it? My doctor told me I could start the day she gave them to me, but the package says to either start on the first day of your period or on the first sunday after. I haven't started yet so I was just curious

I came off of it, as the mid-cycle spotting never went away
