Default Allergic Reaction?

Hi all, I was wondering if you could give me your opinions on this.

On Saturday my mom woke up with what seemed like an allergic reaction, her eye was swollen, her hands were puffy and she had a rash on her forehead/ neck and arms. She took an antihistamine and waited it out. Well on Sunday it wasnt any better and seemed to be getting worse. So we went into the ER and the doctor didnt seem too concerned, gave her two shots (one for the itching and one for the allergy) prescribed some pills and cream and sent us on our way. He concluded it was probably stress related even though there is no factor to point to that. I thought about it and we were at the beach on Friday and I know I sometimes get stung by something that I cant even see what it is. But it stings for a bit then im fine. So I asked my mom if this happened to her and after thinking about it for a bit she said that yes she thinks something did sting her on her leg but it didnt hurt and there is no visible sign of this.

Monday it was a bit better the swelling had gone down but she still has what looks like a rash. She went in to see her GP and he gave a better examination and said it was probably something in the sea, and gave her some stronger pills and cream. Its now Tuesday and well it doesnt seem to be going away, the swelling comes and goes. We went out and I noticed her feet were swollen, it later went away but my mom notices that her eye is a bit swollen. The rash also comes and goes.

How long is it going to take before it goes away? Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I think one of the shots they gave her was a steriod, not too sure though I must ask her. All I know it made her WIRED, she said she counted sleep a wink that night and got out of bed at 4am because she was so awake. I think I feel worse for her than she actually does - the swelling and redness aint pretty! Plus we arent even sure what it was. Oh well, thanks Jill..I do hope she is better soon though, we are going to Greece in 10 days!
