Hi Ladies...
We've recently seen a rash of Yam lovelies on the auction sites, and with the new Yam coming in this fall, I thought it might be good to gather comparison pics (and baseline pics) of the lighter caramel colors of HH leather, like we did with the Greys... I've got a few Yam pieces I'll be posting pics of in a few moments... Please gather your Yam, Saddle, and Luggage pics to show off!! Thanks!! (And if I've missed a lighter brown from HH, add it as well!!) |

Maybe this should be renamed as the "all HH browns thread". I will try to get pics of all my HH Browns/Tans/Autumns (yam).

If it works out that we're edging into the darker browns, I'll ask the mods to rename it :)
For now, here are some Yam pics. I'm seeing (in my own family) three different Yam shades. The trim on the Maldives and GP Barrel Case, and the Carryall is lighter, like a warm tan. The "Yam Shine" Biblio Tag (as it was called in the Auction) is the darkest, and maybe a HAIR more "brown" than orange when compared to what I see as the "true" Yam (The Tharpe, Mercer Clutch, and luggage tag on the Maldives that I took off the Tharpe). I've also included two pieces of Tan Crinkle Patent (the Pilot and Key Fob) since I think it's VERY close to the darker, sunset Yam. ![]() ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() And this is Jandelvis' pic from the Bonanzle listing of the Mercer Clutch... I think it's the best pic of all of them for showing how warm Yam (when it's this dark rich color) can be. I need a new digital camera! :)

Wow! Those are some great photos Jenni. The carryall looks completely different from all the rest. I actually own nothing in Yam, but after seeing all those pics that might have to change.

So, Jenni, would you say that Yam leans closer to orange or brown irl?

^^ That's hard, Enga, because it's certainly not like the Ginger, or LP's Pumpkin. It's a brown, but a very orangey brown. Some people would cal it "tan" or a "warm tan". It doesn't look like a color on top of the leather (although obviously it's dyed). The last two pics (of the Mercer) are the closest to the IRL tone of the Yam shade I favor, and are very warm. BUT there are some Yam bags out there that IMHO look washed-out (possibly dry, possibly new, possibly faded) like my carryall. But they're all in the tan/light brown family, rather than "orange" if that makes any sense?

Enga, think Kraft caramels (the little wrapped ones). That's pretty close. Or honey.

Thanks, Jenni. They are sooooo beautiful whatever hue they have.
What color accessories do you usually wear w. them, Jenni? Browns? Reds? |

Actually, I wear mostly whites/warm heathery grays/charcoal, and denim. Some forest greens, some browns... I like a bag to pop against what I'm wearing, so warm pops against grays, and I like my Euc Havana against brighter colors. Last night I wore an army green skirt, white tee, and medium gray cardigan to our faculty party, and the Mercer was gorgeous with the outfit.

Jenni, once again, you're killing me with that Maldives. It was a OOAK, correct? I definitely see a PM graphic plaid barrel case in my future. I don't have anything in Yam/Luggage/Saddle...yet.

Jenni - Absolute gorgeousness. You have great taste and are on to something here!
I was thinking honey before you said it. But - was also thinking of a beautiful Scotch whiskey or amber coloured Cognac. |
