Default Weight of HH bags?
Hi everyone - I am new to HH bags and thinking about buying one! I just bought a passport cover and I love the soft leather....my only concern is the weight of the leather bags...usually I shop Linea Pelle but those bags are starting to hurt my shoulders....are the larger HH bags heavy? TIA!

MolMol - welcome!

About all I can say, given the info you've provided, is that the equivalent size of a Hayden-Harnett bag will NOT be as heavy as the same-size Linea Pelle bag. Most HH bags are fairly lightweight for their size - do you have a HH bag in particular you'd like to know the weight of? Somebody here will have it and can let you know!

MolMol..welcome to the dark side of desire..mwahahahahaha!

Seriously..hi there..

ITA with I*I but it depends on the bag..and the hardware..and the leather..and heavy is subjective..I find some bags heavy..other don't..size is subjective too...I find some bags too large or too small..other think I am out of my mind.

For example..I can't do Trophy bags..others who are my height have no issues with the size.

So..ask away...I'm sort of between a newbie...and a not so newbie..I'm abov e the rank of enlisted private first class in the HH army...but not a five star general like others..

What' more...we all have our likes..dislikes and opinions..so hit us with your best shot..and question away..we love to share..and we do..vocally..but we are really nice. You will be comfortable here. Great time to ask..there appears to be a sale round the bend..sit tight..and hide your CCs..LOL

XOXO

I think most LP bags are relatively lightweight and the HH passport cover I have is kinda flimsy. Having said that, I recently weighed the following bags at the request of potential buyers so I have a direct comparison (the bags sold already so no rule breaking here):

HH Clara: 2 lbs 4 oz
LP Croco Shoulder Bag: 1 lb 12 oz

The Clara is heavy because of the clasp but the Croco shoulder has a fair amount of hardware. Both brands use a mix of cow leather (heavier) and lambskin (lighter). My guess is that the two brands are actually fairly even all things considered.

Syb, excellent comparison. Are those two similar bags in most aspects? I was thinking of an LP Dylan bag I used to have, which was heavy. I think the Clara is a heavy bag, but - in comparison to a similar LP? Is there a comparison? LOL. Clara weights more than my Conrad. And the new Newman I just received weighs less than the Inka it was created after...

GB, you're on the money on this one, most loved poet.

We need to find out what HH bags the OP is curious about.

^^I don't think you're going to find an exact comparison. The Dylan Croco is actually closer to the Havana in size and shape. But I would guess that my olive Havana weighs more than my anthracite Havana so if you can't compare the same style because of different leather, how can you do an exact comparison with a different brand? And as we know, the style of the shoulder strap can also impact the comfort of carrying a bag so it's not even a matter of just getting out the scale.

My problem with weight of HH bags is how much stuff I can fit in them, not the weight of the bags themselves. My KP corc is extremely lightweight but after I fit a wallet, keys, ipod, phone, planner, notebook, magazine, drink, change of clothes for my kid, spare diaper, pens, lipsticks.... not so light.

^yep. The Conrad's hardware does a number on the weight, for sure. Two rings, a strap buckle, two front pocket buckles ... and the little hangy-down HH charm. I sure liked the bracelet better.

it's totally not! i've had and let go a decent number of HH and LP bags and this one has stayed with me the longest - all of my LP bags are gone at this point (i've had a danielle something or the other - it was big, but not the tote, a mini speedy, a bowler in marigold, a wallet or two...) because although the leather was amazing, i just found them too heavy. i'm a wimp, though.

as for the havana, i only have one (i've never had more than one color of the same style bag) and it's the best. i love the wide shoulder strap AND it weighs less than 2 pounds (at least, the color i have does).

MolMol, I don't know the Croco of other LP bags, but my two LP bags (both Dylan Double-Pocket Messengers... huge) are REALLY heavy. I think it's a combination of how big they are, how much hardware, and the straps are a little narrow to carry that much weight. So if you're mainly carrying larger Dylans, you'll be really happy with HH.

And everyone's right, of course... depends on the leather, shape, etc..
My biggest HH bag (Khaki Patent) is also one of my lightest; the patents are very light.

yes - right now i have the danielle tote (large) and all of the dylan totes i have (even the smaller messenger) hurt after a few hours (like when i was shopping at woodbury!) and the dylan croco doesnt bother me i love that bag, but i will probably sell the others on ebay....

and of course im a bargain hunter so i kinda want to buy it with the 50% code...are there ever better sales??
