India that Newman is TDF!! It kinda reminds me of older style coach bags back then the leather was awesome and the bags held up. Do you love it so much as to buy it in many different colors?

Yeah Nikki I know what you mean. The leather on my Shiitake Suede Byrne was a little surprising. Very stiff and not soft at all. I still love it

The Newman is gorgeous I*I! The leather in your photos looks a lot like the leather on the sample Lilly that I scored during that auction. If it is the same leather – it is really wonderful – extremely fine-grain, slightly matte (but not so much that it might scuff too easily). The color is not as black as the pebbly Inka due to the grain and matte finish but it is sooooo soft to the touch, like a baby's bottom, really.

balena, that's it. Soft as a baby's bottom. I know it's hard to photograph; if you're not careful it comes out a very dark gray. Sigh.

lulu, yes, I love it enough to get it in multiple colors. Which basically means all the self-therapy I've done for the last few months has gone straight out the window. :)

true, Newman stands up. No collapsing slouchy business here! He's not structured, but he's got shape.

Now I wish I could bring myself to actually start using him... he's so sexy handsome I just want to bask in his glory and ... ah yes, you guys remember - I do get attached ... and the last attachment this strong was with the Inka ... LOL.

Joelene, thanks for all the photos. Not only of the Newman vs. the Inka, but the photos from the fall lookbook. I so hope they include the fall catalog with our Pompidou orders.

Love the "soft as a baby's bottom" description!

I'm reviving this thread to see if anyone has a Newman on the way or any further thoughts on the bag, modeling pix, etc.

It was No. 3 on my list behind Biblio and Trophy Satchel, but without knowing when those two will become available, Newman is moving up the list.

Not yet, I'm still waiting to see if there's a chance it will be available in olive or yam. If not, I think the grape is lovely.

When I had my jewelry line, I shared my showrooms at the apparel marts with a handbag designer. From what I remember, the quality/type of the leather on a sample depends on if it was a production sample or marketing sample. If it is the first sample produced to test the patterns and check the balance of a bag, it is a single-run item and will most likely be run in whatever leather is being used that day in the shop to fill big orders. So, it can be a lesser leather or it can be a leather above the eventual quality of that bag, if a very high-end designer had her/his bags running that day. If the sample is the one used for promotion (shown in sales rooms as the "look see" for ordering), it will be very close to the same leather.
