Default SNAD! Please help!!!!!! Holes in Havana
OMG! I am soooo mad. I just got my blush Havana and 1) it came in a little envelope all folded and smooshed 2) there are rips and stains all over!!! The seller didn't really list about the description, but I asked her. She said there were just a couple tiny water marks on the bottom, but that it was in great shape. Please tell me how to file a snad! I will list this in the ebay forum too, but needed some Hotties advice. HELP!

I think the first step would be to contact the seller and tell her what you think of the bag. Maybe she''l refund your money without having to file a SNAD?

Nikki, definitely contact the seller first. She might refund you and you can just send it back. Make sure you negotiate shipping fees. She should pay at least one way.

Going thru PayPal is time-consuming but not impossible - you have to wait for the seller to respond, and if they don't, then PayPal can take their own time reviewing the whole thing. The one time I had to do it, it wasn't for a SNAD but I never rcvd the item - took about 6 weeks start to finish. :(

Nikki, I can see the pinpoint holes. Contact the seller, tell her that this bag is SNAD but that you want to see if you could work this out so that paypal and your CC company do not have to get involved. I would also let her know that the way she shipped it is unacceptible. ITA, she has to pay for the return shipping, and make sure you return it priority, in the correct size box, insured, and NOT delivery confirmation..you want SIGNATURE confirmation because although DC is enough for PP, it is NOT enough if you have to file a claim with your CC company.

Take photos of the bag packed, the box once it's labeled, and photocopy the documents. FWIW, I use UPS to return things because I can print a copy of the signature once the package has been signed for, make a hard copy and add it to my document folder. The CC company can also access the page if you give them the information, which saves faxing the paper if time is of the essence (this happened to me with a Salina disaster last December)...although I am not sure if that can be done if something is mailed Priority.

Email the seller the tracking number too and tell her that you want a refund within 48 hours of receipt of the package and that she should please acknowledge that she accepts this..make sure she specifies the timeframe for the refund. Make sure ALL communication is done through ebay so that they can access it if need be. Do NOT communicate through regular emails. Once you have documentation that she has received the return wait until the agreed upon timeframe is up and then see if you have received your refund. If you haven't, email her once again..and then it's time to escalate this.

If she refuses to do anything, or you have returned it and you haven't gotten a refund, there are two ways to handle it. Either through Paypal or through your CC company. I've had miserable experiences dealing with PP so I deal directly with the CC company, especially since she might play games with her PP account.

Document every conversation you have with the CC rep, get the name and the case # and keep it all in a file. Make sure you have a snapshot hard copy of the auction listing including her description and also make copies of her answers to your questions on ebay.

If the CC rep asks you to fax something, make sure you get her direct contact number so you can verify whether she got the papers! (every time I had a dispute something went wrong and the faxes didn't get to the correct place the first time..or two..I was given the wrong fax #, it landed on the wrong desk..etc.) Follow up with the rep with phone calls because there is a specific timeframe when everything has to be in place for them to take action.

Then I would give the seller feedback from hell once you receive your refund...unless she apologizes when you first contact her, agrees to your terms, refunds the shipping and the entire price of the bag...otherwise..go get her, tiger.

HTH sweetie..this sux..moose..dinosaur..something large and angry and stinky!!!

Thanks ladies. I just was shocked at how someone could actually think it was OK to shove that big of a bag into an envelope like that. Besides the fact that it was in bad shape. I try to be an honest seller and I just can't stand when someone is not.

If you still have the email where she claimed that it was in "great shape", I would file the SNAD. I know it is easier to just scare a seller and get the money back and return the bag. But, then, she will just relist it and sell it to the next unsuspecting customer who isn't hanging out on this forum. Nikki, I am like you. I HATE to have a beautiful bag mauled in the way it is mailed. I frankly don't even like the fact that HH leaves my lovely Trophy bags flying loose in a box. But, cramming a bag into a flat envelope has got to be reported. Even when you file your SNAD, she will probably come back and tell eBay that it was damaged in shipping. So, it is good that you took arrival pics. The one thing about a SNAD report. You only get refunded the item cost & orig shipping. It is my understanding that you do not get refunded the return shipping, so you might want to check that out.

ITA with RM..I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt. Don't give it..DO file the SNAD..because not only is it SNAD it was not packed correctly at all. You don't get the return shipping back which stinks but at the very least you should get your original shipping fees back.

Although FWIW, when it came to my SNAD, the powers that be at ebay told me to file with PP! What I did post in my feedback once it was resolved was that the bag stank from perfume, had waterspots and dark spots and was NOT NWOT at all! Right after that, another buyer posted that the bag SHE got also stank from perfume! So RM is correct..feedback is important!

OK..here's something that might help you too from the Professional Ebay Sellers Alliance:

http://www.gopesa.org/inr.cfm

You might also want to add her to TPF's list of sellers to avoid!

Blech, nikki. Poor Havana! I have nothing to add (gingey has the procedure down pat!), but I'm rooting for you!

I remember that auction. Yes, it is abuse! Your heart must have dropped to your ankles when you saw the envelope and knew she didn't care about it or you. I'm so sorry!

Gingey is absolutely right about the steps to take so I won't add anything except to emphasize to go through eBay for any communication and to keep a record of everything.

SkyD,She has 1 neutral feedback on Jan 19,2008: quick shipping, but damage that wasn't in item description.
Sorry this happened to you girl!! Good luck! Adding this one to my list of who not to buy from!
I went back & looked again & she has no stars for feedback & shipping time. Not sure what that means exactly.

The frustrating thing is I can't get any good photos of the damage. Someone said to put the camera on the MACRO function. I know nothing about cameras and can't find a good setting. My camera is just a Fuji finepix A600. Just a cheapo camera.

Macro mode will allow you to get in real close (as close as a few inches) and pick up small details like the damage the bag took during shipping. Cycle through your menus and settings and look for an icon (or an actual button on the camera) that looks like a tulip. Hope that helps!
