Do I think HH should sell restoration projects? No, not really but I am ok with it. The rarity and the leather make up for it. I will admit though in the daylight for like a second I wondered what I had done....LOL..Yep just call me momma to a cast-aside Beatrice. (kind of like a couple rescue doggies I have )Thanks Skydive. KDO and Merrygold! |

Can't wait to see the transformation as you restore her.
I wonder if HH could tell you more about where she came from and why they handled the sale? It must have belonged to someone there, don't you think? Quite a little mystery. I would have to know where it came from. |

I love the Bea! I just ordered some Lexol for my Saddle Barnard, but it won't arrive for a week, so I'm very curious to see how it works for you.
Wouldn't it be cool if the bag were Toni's? |

That would be totally cool...it's so strange but I feel an affinity for the silly bag, just because no one wanted her anymore...Isn't that weird?

NO, it's NOT weird, I TOTALLY understand. YOU can appreciate its inherent beauty and uniqueness.....and imperfections. Some bags are meant to look pristine, others, to show their "life" - the wear and tear that happens with the journey. You can see that this bag has many years of whopping it up, and that you want it to be your companion through YOUR journey. The fact that someone didn't see or value this realtionship is a bit of a pity, BUT than....it would not have found YOU. I know, kinda quirky and romantic, but I have a soft spot when it comes to a sense of history, even for inanimate objects! Am so stoked for you....take your time at coaxing her back to wellness AND do follow the expert advice of Stormy, we are so lucky to have her around. This bag is timeless........both shape and leather. It's something that will get better and better with age. ![]() ![]() ![]() for you!

Bea is just lovely Ms. Lizardo, so glad you have her! I'm very curious to see her during and after your ministrations to bring her back to her old self; she's found the right home with you.
I agree though that there should have been photos showing exactly what she looked like but when she was $118 and scarce as hen's teeth you probably would have taken her anyway. It surprises me that she was sold in the overflow sale when we can see the clear signs of use she's showing. She'd have gone for more on an auction site though. |

To die for! I have now found my HG. I do think it's strange that HH sold an obviously used bag, but what a score! I'm curious to see how the Lexol works on saddle, I have the cleaner and conditioner, but have been hesitant to use either on my saddle Suki because of possible darkening. I thought the Neatsfoot might work better. Of course Stormy is the expert and knows 100% more than I do. Can't wait to see the after photos.
I also think it's funny that HH describes it as a "small satchel". There isn't anything small about her! Enjoy!!!!!! |

OMG Blammie ...somebody understands how I feel about history and a soft spot for beautiful, albeit inanimate, object!! To have seen what Ms. Beatrice has seen...LOL...I am weird like that. All over Italy whenever I was walking I used to just wonder who in the world, maybe artist or Roman soldier, had once stepped on the place in the street I was walking ....LOLAnd yes Stormy is THE BEST...she just pm'ed me instructions!! Which I will post in case other's need them for their lovlies. |

Ok, I just heard form Stormy!! She is so wonderful and such a vast wealth of Knowledge. We are so lucky to have here here to help. I am posting this in case anyone else needs this for one of theeir beauties. Thanks Stormy!!
I'd feel confident with Lexol Cleanser, and that with the right techniques, the water spots could mostly disappear, but the areas that are most worn may bea trouble, so bea VERY gentle. (Bea generous with the cleanser on those handles) What you will see is the patina washing off, a brighter cleaner color that will look matte. That's how it should bea. when you do the cleansing you might see lots of stains or greyish areas where it was worn down too much,(dirt can be hiding a lot of little problems) Cleansing will reveal the naked state, but If it is not pristine, stop there. Do not proceed with conditioning, yet. You can Go ahead and follow Lexol cleanser instructions gently and lets see where we are before the next step. Don't get the bag wet and make sure you use a "feathering" motion with your cleanser- damp cloth on the water spots, from the center of the spot out in all directions ~keep a wet edge, like painting. If you have a very soft complexion brush, I'd say that's the best for the handles and all over to get in the grain pattern. (walgreens) Have lots of clean white rags or t shirts dampened for the rinsing, change frequently. Don't bea nervous, (we can't call the place til Monday anyhow.)! Looking at the picture you posted, it looks very doable to me. After cleansing, wait overnight for her to dry, You may see where it needs more cleaning,( some marks can reappear,) so go over those spots again. Dry completely before determining her readiness for conditioning, *You will need A brand new never been used SOFTEST natuaral bristle shoe shine brush and sheepwool when we get to the final steps. I know you say you are almost OK with it now, but she can bea soooo gorgeous. |

What a silly girl that Stormy bea! Looking forward to your renovation of this gorgeous bag, Ms.Liz. But I'd be disappointed if Toni was the previous owner...I would hope she knows to take better care of Saddle leather.
