Thanks Fafnir and Merrygold! I think I'm going to try it :) If I do, I'll bring my camera and try to take pictures if I'm not going nuts over the sale. Either way, I'll update. I tried briefly to get the BF to plan an impromptu couples-day on Saturday but he didn't fall for it so I think I'll be going alone. I was kind of hoping he could be a human-man-wall for me in case it's crazy. Gotta go to bed now, will figure it out tomorrow. Yay for last minute plans.

Merry - I can make it to the Seattle Zoo in 2 hours if I go early enough to beat the border traffic!!! The outlets are farther north than that.

My DH just got a Nexus pass so he's pushing me to get organized and go get one. That would make border travel wayyyyy better.

Is Black Friday on the US thanksgiving weekend? Sorry to be so ignorant.

Peeps do it here in Vancouver, pulling all nighters to hit the midnight sales at Seattle Premium outlets. That's 3-4 hours one way, depending on border traffic.

How fast do you drive, Sally? lmao! We've never been able to make it there so quickly, even when we zip through the border. However, we're prolly coming from further north than you.

I hear that the Nexus pass only costs $50 for five years? That's totally worth it! I would gladly pay $10 a pop just to zip through customs.

Yes, Black Friday is the day after U.S. Thanksgiving, which takes place on the third Thursday of November I believe? The Black Friday sales begin at Friday midnight so peeps fuel up on turkey and then hit the stores.

I go fast if I can!!! I'm about 10 mins from the Steveston highway exit onto Hway 99. I forget how much he paid for the pass but $50 sounds right. He had to fill out some forms and go for an interview.

Does BF start at midnight Thursday or Friday?

Midnight Friday, or more precisely, one minute past 23:59 Thursday night on a 24 hour clock. LOL

Yeah, but the earliest I've seen stores open up on BF was around 4 am... some loonies camp out in front of closed stores for the night... but I've never done that, and still had a blast at the sales. Last year, I got my hubs a GPS garmin for a lark! (and then we lost it in March... sigh...)

You guys don't have Nexus? It is sooooooo worth it! I finally got it last year and it makes crossing the border a breeze. It's not so noticeable at Pt Roberts (esp. before the Nexus lane opens @ 11), but makes a world of difference or so . We also got our irises scanned so we can go through Nexus at the Airport. Best 50 bucks I've spent in a long while!

Sounds like I need to get organized. Yes - my DH got his irises scanned for the airport issues too.

Some stores in my area have opened at midnight Friday. My sister works for Tommy Hilfiger and her store opens every year at midnight friday and stays open till midnight saturday. I don't celebrate holidays but staying up to hang with the crazy shoppers is pretty fun.

It was a lifesaver when we took the little ones to Disneyland, being able to bypass the longer line helped stave off a couple of meltdowns.

Now if only I can figure out a way to parachute into NY for this sale...

All this BF talk is making me giddy. Favorite day of the year LOL! (If any of you in Vancouver come down to Bham this year, LMK...I need shopping buddies, my mom's been flaking on me the last couple of years. ) And thanks for reminding me about Nexus...need to go see if the online application is working yet.

Wish I was in NY...sigh
