ha thanks Gingey I am glad I am not the only one who cant go bc of the holiday! If I can get out of work on time tomorrow I will be driving to NYC from central jersey and hit the store up before going to my parents house in Bergen County, NJ.

I need a strategy - does anyone know the parking situation by the Manhattan store?? And how far from the GW bridge??

MolMol..you are gonna get slammed in traffic..lots of people are gonna be leaving work early to get home..or where they are staying..plus it's the weekend rush too..better leave lots of time..the tunnels, bridges and highways get really sucky no matter what..and this is going to make it worse.

If I were driving in and had a time contraint..I would park in a garage..not too pricey for an hour or two..less expensive than a cab..less wasted time circling for parking....and WAAAAY less costly than a parking ticket...amortize it out with what you will be saving on bags..and some of the fanstastic things you might find..

Oh...the Nolita store is still open..better call about the Groupon thing..ask for a manager..get her name..write it down..(me..always worse case scenario)...just in case you need to find her tomorrow..

Back to cleanup land..kids are working all day today and all night tonight and into tomorrow filling orders at the bakery where they work...what better time to clean up debris..and sneakily throw out things that DS has piled up "just in case I need to canabalize the parts, Ma"..omg..like anyone needs an old broken 8track cassette player..

Would you believe I'm sitting here trying to decide that if I stay up all night cooking and prepping..cleaning the last two bathrooms..wash my hair..etc..if I can go there and back in time to finish off what I need to do...I know I'm not going to do it..but still..arrgh..I'm really upset and frustrated about this..although it's really disgusting of me to go on and on about it isn't it..especially in light of all the wonderful experiences I've had and the fact that I have gotten to go to some SSales..and so many of you haven't gone..but OMG..this is going to be MAJOR!!!

I just walked out of the manhattan store and while the sale has not started for those of you size-six shoe ladies in NYC, I would head over to the store now. There are about 10 size six shoes and boots for just $50! Some are in the fall catalog, some are not. I don't know the names, but I saw a pair of boots for$50 that are in the catalog for $425. These shows aren't pat of the sale, they are just out. However, idoubt they will last long once the sale starts. A lot of th

The shop is open until 8.

It seems that many items in the store have been on sale prior to the warehouse sale.

The super nice store clerk said that they split the items evenly between the brooklyn and manhattan stores.

Groupon should be accepted if you remember the reason they gave Lina from Groupon was that they don't accept it due to warehouse/ sample sales was held at an offsite location. Since this sale is at either of their two stores, it should be totally valid, unless they want to eat their words. Maybe you should print that page out in case they try to say no.

Chica..I've learned one thing about HH..no logic..no reason at times..and assume nothing please..even though I believe you have a VERY VERY VERY valid point..if it's gonna be a madhouse there..I don't think quibbling with sales people will get women anywhere..but I WOULD print the page out and take a copy of the groupon just in case..because you never know..(hug)..

(no offense meant...RB....it's just I know what it's like to run a sample sale..and to work one as a sales person..OMG...it's tough to keep trying to be nice and helpful..even the best of the best lose it at times..KWIM?

Nolita parking... you would be better off trying for a garage. And Nolita to the GWB means you are traveling almost the entire length of Manhattan. If I were you, I would try to get out of work early, there will be so much traffic in and out of Manhattan on a Friday anyways let alone for Rosh Hashanah.

Best of luck to all the girls going to the sale, to bad this is the weekend I'm flying out of NYC to Chicago!! I might try to go the Manhattan store during my lunch break.

So, I'm contemplating whether I should take a bus/train out from DC to go to NYC for the day for this. Yes, it's crazy, but 1) I have never been to the store much less to one of these crazy in-person sales, which I'm dying to experience 2) I lived in Canada before so this is far closer than I used to be. I never would have been able to day-trip it before 3) If I'm wanting to go to a sample sale, now is as good a time as any, since I'm not getting any closer to living in NYC.

For any of the HHHotties who have been to these sales, how "worth it" do you think they are? I know some people find crazy great treasures, but I also wouldn't be able to make it until Saturday and if they are already putting up sales merchandise today, will there be anything good left? I don't HAVE to buy anything, the experience just to see the store and all the bags in person will be great, but I would certainly want to make it worth my while.

Also for those who have been to these types of sales, what price range have you seen before? I know HH does crazy things with prices and it's really unpredictable but are we talking about bags in the 100's... 200's? 300's? Damaged bags below 100 or above?

Sorry for all the random questions, I'm trying to see if I can justify the trip :)

How long/far is your bus/train ride, Kkay? I think you should go for it if it's within your means! It sounds like a fun thing to do. People travel to different cities just to catch their favourite artists in concert. I think to do the same for a shopping trip is totally justifiable.

Well, the bus would be the cheapest way (starting from 35 round trip... totally worth it, ha!) and the train would be much more expensive (I think amtrak quoted 72 each way). Bus says it should take 4 hours but who knows with traffic, train is just about 3.5 hours. I think if I did it, I'd just take the bus option (save some money for the sale! and it's only a half hour difference and I have a lot of reading for work to do anyhow).

Also, if I take the bus option, do any NYC'ers recommend Times Square, Penn Station or 28 Allen street as my stop options? I'm totally planning this on the fly :)

That's a fab price for the bus trip, and not unbearably long at all. You should totally do it,, Kkay! When you lived in Canada, did you ever cross border shop for Black Friday? Peeps do it here in Vancouver, pulling all nighters to hit the midnight sales at Seattle Premium outlets. That's 3-4 hours one way, depending on border traffic.
