Jaquar bottle green/tobias chocolate - what a stunning combo. So rich. In fact, if I remember a friend's jag correctly, it had brown coachwork. That was an old one. I think the new BRG (British Racing Green) jags have champagne, or is it biscuit? Oh, well, I have never been much of a car person except that I do notice colors. Which is why I bought the Celebration LeSabre from Buick - for its red pearl exterior with 2-tone bucket seats like the 1950s had - taupe and champagne. Now, that I come to think of it, I think one of the Clive Cussler books had a 1950-something Allard that was the green exterior with grey interior. Green with that new taupe/grey suede? Oh, I love the green... so many possibilities. If you want to play with leather combos and contrast/matching stitching, check out this link:

Of course, Thuy, you know that if HH does your DYOB as the "one and only ever to be" green bag, you had better install extra security and go about with a burly bodyguard... because you may have Gingey or me stalking you. And you know Gingey... she may grab purse and bodyguard.

Hugs gingey!!

Jaguar bottle green/tobias chocolate does sound really decadent. I'll definitely check out the link you posted, RMC. And what a nice car you have, too Red pearl exterior and two-tone bucket seats

I'm planning on adding a keycharm too. At first, I thought a goldfish would be cool. Then, as the thought process progressed, origami goldfish would be cooler!

I don't think it'll necessarily be two-toned, but I just added it for contrast for picture purposes.

As for the front-decal, still working on that. I was thinking maybe sort of a crest thing (like samurai family crest) but I didn't want anything too intricate.

I thought the Ikeda's butterfly is cool (to go through a transformation from humble insect to something graceful and beautiful) but it's much too intricate, unless I can simplify it. Plus, I'd like to keep symmetry if possible. Or just make something completely different and super simple, don't want to take too much away from the design, iono :P

WOW!! I go camping for four days and look... four new pages plus a SKETCH!! Thuy, it's gorgeous... it has echoes of the Havana, the Trophy, and the football bag (sorry RMC... brain addled from WAY too much campside tequila and VERY little sleep. Downpours. Raging rivers. We won't go into it...) But it's still absolutely unique and it's not just the handle ties... it's definitely Japanese-inspired. I love it.

Am agreeing with the concerns about Eucalyptus... I'm always been in love with the idea of a white bag and yet utterly terrified of owning one. I'm terribly impressed with my new (old) Lagoon Lorca--it's the thick, pebbly leather that the "elephant?" gray was, and seems impervious to dirt, stains, etc., so maybe that older leather rather than the Euc, which might be more delicate and "naked" like the Ginger?

After seeing the sketch, though, I have to offer up that perhaps it's calling out for some red? The chocolate (or some other deep rich brown, not Brandy, Cordovan?) as the main and whatever the best red leather they've ever had is as the accent?

I love that they're up for doing your pattern on the front! Thanks again for sharing this with us!!

Very cool! I would also love to see this bottle green... If not, I think winter white & black shine or purple suede/shine combo would be amazing too
I really like your goldfish sketch too, it would make a really cute charm

Jennirane, welcome back from the holiday weekend camping trip! Seems like tequila is your liquor of choice (nice!) I don't own anything eucalyptus other than my boots, so it's hard to quantify the leather as a bag. At this rate, if I had to choose just one color, I think I'd go for a darker color scheme since it seems more fitting for the influence of the bag (although I don't mind having an extra white one also). :) My BF seems to love brown also, but he's a fan of thinking leather should be either brown or black, hehe.

Thanks leo! I think either way (color combo) I can't really lose. I'm excited about doing the charm too. It would be neat to see how they would "fold" the leather into an origami style. I just hope the point where the tail and body meets isn't too weak.

Default Octopus applique on front pocket anyone?
I really like this. It takes away the elegance of the bag a bit maybe, but I think it's hilarious/quirky. Oh well, if it ends up being just a bag for me, might as well make a bag for me :P

Octopus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The applique decal will be the same color as the main color (so it doesn't stand out like crazy). I was thinking also having 2 or 3 studs beneath the "octopus" to give the appearance that it's shooting eggs.

missty, i was thinking about your "samurai family crest" thought a bit further up.. a lot of traditional japanese family crests aren't very intricate and a lot of them are also symmetrical. if you google "kamon" you should be able to find a bunch.

Thanks hokka, gingey for the kamon idea/links

I was looking for them for a while but gave up when I couldn't find anything I thought could work as a decal.

True gingey, I guess it does look kinda spidey/ribcage :P Wouldn't ninja me then, eh? :P I clicked on some more links that you provided and it's cool they split up to plant/and animal. I can read, so it looks like they split up into different types. (http://www.otomiya.com/kamon/animal/saru.htm is monkey, although it's more symbolically a monkey).

and oh, I'm born year of dog

(there's some pretty cool crests here, insects...)

Thuy...I have folders of links to so many things that I think I am going to need folders for my folders..LOL..but before my hands started to bother me I did micro-needlpoint, trapunto work and embroidery so I used to collect Japanese and Chinese Crests because I loved the intricacy and yet the simplicity. I also have cranes and crystanthemums, peony..painted on Japanese semi antique screens all over my home...and I've been slowly slowly needlepointing something incorporating all 5 of my family members' birth years...

I'm the year of the horse btw...according to my Chinese friend, Tuan, I am in the subcategory "The Wood Horse"..which relieved me to no end.

I'm glad you liked the crests..and I hope I didn't insult you about "spidey"..and you also need a "Birth year charm'..IMHO

I'd still "ninja" you though because this looks like it's shaping up into one amazing piece of wearable art my dear, talented friend.

XOXO

I think Thuy needs to look for a water crest (no, Gingey, not watercress... see, there ahead of you) since her name means water. Or, something to do with water... maybe a water lilly or waves or some such?

Gingey, I'm year of the Monkey, Fire Monkey in particular.

Thuy, I love the origami goldfish charm. I think that is a purse charm I would actually use on a bag. I tried the mushroom. It just didn't do anything for me... no love - or even like - vibes. I think it would be TDF on the origami bag. I have to say, though, I think there is so much beauty in your bag that adding the origami fish might be a distraction rather than an enhancement.
