LOVE! I want one too :) And I love avp's idea of having a contrasting backing leather.

Thuy!! It's adorable. Definitely a different backing leather, and make sure that loop tie is secure! PLEASE tell us they'll go into production!!

Hi all,

Just poppin in/out here. Wanted to give an update on the process of the Thanh bag and goldie :)

Goldfish
I decided to go for yam/yamshine combo. I think it's a nice color that will *pop* against the Thanh's neutral warm eucalyptus/white leather. It'll have the secured stitching on both ends of the hanging tassel so it won't be lost, and done in all 9k gold hardware (instead of the usual mixed hardware) for a more tailored look.

Thanh

Exterior
We decided to resolve the pleating on the front, to wrap it around the back (looks pretty cool, huh).
Feet
As in the type of feet found in sonia (more conical shaped) versus the round feet (i.e. trophy/tharpe)
Stitching
Grey stitching for eucalyptus and white for white leathers. So the only contrast seen will be between leathers :)
Size
I originally wanted something along trophy size, but Joanne mentioned that due to the hexagonal shape, it won't hold as much. It's still a good size for a day bag. The height of the trophy bag is 13.25 inches, so I decided to round up to 14 (this is my lucky number, lol how I make decisions), figure out the dimensions from there, and call it even.

Interior
The usual HH pocket set-up:
1. front 3 slip pockets (but would like to add 2 pencil holders at the end)
2. back zipper pocket (but would like to model it after the paule marrot edition style zipper pocket with the cute zipper pull/dog-clip). Plus, I asked instead of the usual HH 9k gold plate placed under the back zipper pocket, if I could have "Thanh" printed on the leather part, like how they did with "paule marrot editions." Not necessarily that font, but the thought of having Thanh there is nice :)

3. side pockets - would be interesting to have inside side gussets, but I don't know if it's feasible, or practical since it's at that sloped angle at the side.

Lining
I feel at home at the ocean - bet grandma does too. I chose a seafoam color lining. It complements with the eucalyptus and white, and plus it's a soft, light color lining that doesn't make it seem like a black hole when I open up and search for things. Joanne asked me if I'd prefer satin, nylon and canvas... and I chose canvas! Perhaps durability is the way to go. Plus she mentioned it's fairly easy to match the seafoam color (or really close to it) since it's available in a million colors.

Bravo, Thuy!! Tell them you're racking up the orders for the goldfish at the VERY least :) Love all the color combos, and love the pleating wrapping around back. It's going to be so lovely!

lulu, sallyca - I think it's 6-8 weeks once they send out the specs to the production room. Maybe it'll be ready when the fall line drops, and totally be lost in the gorgy fall madness, lol.

jenni - thank you chica! I hope they bring up the idea of making the goldfish. Toni did briefly mention doing something origami - and the geometry of the goldfish design is along the lines of their design mentality

nyria - thanks for stopping by and the sweet compliment! I'm glad people are liking this. :) I really dig your rainbow-puking unicorn avatar btw. Taste the rainbow, lol

fafnir - thank you~ I'm glad the heatwave passed - I got way too lax in doing anything creative and just lied next to the fan most of the time. We're up on the 4th floor of the apt so it was usually hotter inside than outside x_x

WOW!!! I have been away for a month and this is the first thread I have checked into upon signing in. Your project is just blowing me away. I ADORE the goldfish and simply MUST have one LOL. I adore the bag in all its incarnations so I think whichever you choose will be awesome. I hope and pray they will go into production or that we can do a limited edition like we did with the pomp. I would certainly be in on that! Then again, you may like the idea of it being a OOAK that only you own. That is also very cool. You are one very talented woman Thuy!!!

How exciting to design your own bag !! Certainly a chance of a lifetime. And from a NY Designer, too !! Being new to this forum, I was struck by the fact you are from Portland, YEAH !! I can't wait to purchase a NY/Oregon designer bag. Saving my pennies until launch....

Thanks travelmom, you're too nice! I definitely would love to have them produce the Thanh bag for everyone - it would be a great honor. I have a feeling if they by any chance do, they might do some tweeking so it's more to their taste, but at least I'll have the original

Brenalsea: Hey fellow Oregonian, welcome to TPF and the addiction that is handbags :) Thank you for your encouragement, it always good to have hometown/homestate support.

Toomz - Thanks for stopping on by and your <3 :) It's a self-discovery journey for me too, and it's nice to check back when this is done. Kinda like a reveal and learning experience
