I can't keep up with this thread..and I am not posting/ commenting on all of this...but the process is fascintating and Thuy..I bow down to you.

but jenni..a schmear of artichoke/spinach..the verb and the nouns (or adjectives?) do not belong together...

Oh ye gorgeous blonde shiksa goddess....my ancestors are cringing in their graves..schmear=creamcheese..(BTW..that entire concept is a NY Jewish concept..it wasn't cream cheese in Europe)

RMcC..jenni..I have one week off..and the cycle begins again and RMcC..is there anything at which you are not adept? Seriously.

Amigas...Your suggestions to Thuy always enlighten me....Thuy..are we all making you crazy..((hug)).

Thuy..I've been following the entire process. I think you are at the point where you need to walk away in order to gain perspective. IMHO..you are now at the stage where I am often when I write or paint. That is when I tend to overcorrect a paper or overpaint a watercolor..or add "just one more" thing to something I am sewing or embroidering and ruin everything...especially the painting....so I learned to walk away to breath and think and regroup so I can look at it with fresh eyes. Our own critical lenses are very harsh when it comes to judging our own work at times.

Heck..in some ways it's more anxiety provoking than waiting to see what a baby will look like (a healthy one) because you are creating this in front of everyone from xygote to newborn..every step of the way..so..in many ways, this is the gestational period now..you don't have to give birth yet and you can make changes when and if you are ready. But not before. No wonder you are becoming a bit anxious.

Thuy, may I offer a bit of advice. I am not nearly as gifted as you, and the thought of merely picking a leather and lining and making minimal design alterations on other sites bespoking would drive me insane because I would be second guessing myself every step of the way...so, I give you major props..

This is not just another bag, sweetheart, this has become a tribute to your culture, your family and an expression of your personal, inner self as well as your vision. Breathe....walk away...close your eyes..breathe.

Duh. I know that schmear=cream cheese. I DID live in NY for two years!! This cream cheese just happens to have bits of spinach and artichoke in it. Just like SOME BLOODY CREAM CHEESE IN NY has bits of stuff in it. Berries. Green onions. Sheesh.

Don't care what you say. Since I can't very well hop on a plane every time I get hungry for a bagel and some kind of topping, I must close my eyes and pretend that the thing I'm eating at our Main Street Bagel Shop (opened by NY Jews, BTW) is, in fact, a bagel.

OK..truce..truce..jennipenny ((hug))..and OK..yes..Main Street Bagel + Jews=a bagel...(who's baking them)..and please please..do come here..

note..you didn't say it was cream cheese..

you said artichoke/spinach..ok..schmear...used to be butter or creamcheese...here it is from the "horses mouth" the last Yiddish (sorta) paper..the Daily Forward

http://www.forward.com/articles/1651/

(whispering...but a Bagel made without NYC H20..still not quite right..)

BB...(waving madly) boobs in..(and don't ask what I thought when I saw you posted "Boobs Out")

and the sun is peeking through..of course..just in time to make me even more miserable on DDay...

We are wandering off topic..so let's take this private (jenni..meet you outside Main Street Bagels at high noon..your time..LOL..bagels and baileys drawn at the count of 10...who will be our doubles..?)

Thuy..sweetie..no more hijacking hijinx between the fiesty blonde Shiska goddess and the diminutive but fiery Jewish pocket venus. I have no more advice other than this..pay no attention to us in this post..

Thuy....look for inspiration or direction elsewhere..not even here or bouncing ideas off friends and family.... for now..walk away and breathe and find your own center and come back and look through everything you've done without talking to anyone here or privately..I often get ideas in dreams or by seeing something that inspires me in my daily walks when I decide to put something on the back burner for a day or too..

Sorry I've been away - I've been working graveyard still and trying to keep my distance from this thread a little bit, lol.

I need your help. I'm still wondering if I should redo the front. Here is what I got so far:

And some other revisions to make it "less busy" perhaps-

Less stud = more?

Plain face jane

Metal face

Thanks again - and now I must disappear

More studs. I love the one with the studs.

Thuy, now we will get you confused, LOL. I like less studs. I think the few studs on each tip of the lotus flower pulls the eye upward. Also, the "more studs" seems to deflect attention from the other detailing such as the rings on the side band of the bag and the wrapping on the handles. I do not like the plain jane...the front flap looks like an English saddle. I feel like there should be stirups suspended from the clasp.

I also like fewer studs. Definitely keep the leather detail though.

it'll be the little HH studs - not the huge LP ones :)

they're the smaller of the studs that can be found on the clutch wallet:

I really like the "Less stud = more?" it has just enough studs to make a statement and not to little to where it looks plain. It's really coming along. I wonder how the other DYOBs are doing?

I knew that. :) The small studs are so nice, with HH logo. Love them. Maybe don't put too many, but it would be a nice touch. :)

Okay ladies, what do you think of these two?

I gave it less lines in efforts to reduce "busy-ness."

Is this an upgrade? If so, which of the two do you like better? The bottom one has arches that are narrower on the bottom, wider on the top.

I think I'm on the brink of finalizing the design process and get the production going. If I go to NY in mid-August, the prototype might be done by then and I can get a first-hand look at it. That's if I make a decision soon on what I want, lol.

Oh fun pressure

I think I like your new sketch (the first one). At first it looked a little plain, but it's growing on me. I might try to work a few more studs in :)
