You're sweet, and I needed that right now... just got my spring evals yesterday and read through them. Mostly what I'm used to... she's super hard but I learned a lot, she's supportive and funny, good stuff (the odd "TOO HARD FOR THIS CLASS" but I'm okay with that.) But one class had one student who, though really bright, had some kind of problem with me and she pretty much poisoned the class. She was very smart and good at reading lit, but she challenged me constantly. On the day they did evals I asked for any verbal feedback they wanted to give and she said that I was condescending and dismissive of students' comments. It shocked me; I almost had to leave the classroom to cry. And sure enough, five or six other evals "seconded" that. I know I should brush it off--half the class never spoke up ONCE so how could I be dismissive? It was like pulling teeth to get this group to comment (except for this one student) and I was always glad when someone did, no matter if the comment was inane or revealed that they hadn't read the text carefully at all. I'm just going to stop reading them. I know my strengths and weaknesses as a teacher; I've been doing it long enough.

*sigh* Sorry for going OT there. Guess that was weighing on me.

Back to Missty's bag... so would you go closer to the grey or white for the thread? Is there something exactly in-between?

Also debating about lining... I'd like to keep this bag for a lifetime and more, and was thinking perhaps I should opt for a canvas. But if they had the small chance of using that watery silky liming from S/S 09, it would be beautiful for this bag...
Thuy, the aspects in Euc that you've mentioned are perfect.

I love the braided strap, but would think about whether you'd ever use the handles on your shoulder or not? (Think like the Wyeth.. about a 4" drop to hold them in your hand.) If you kept them fairly short, you could go mid-length (think Havana opened up 12") for the braided strap?

And as for color, white would look better, but I'd worry about the oils in your hands... white for the strap but Euc for the handles? Would that look too weird?

I'm sorry to hear that, jenni :( I know what you mean thou, don't take it too personal, but can't help getting your feelings hurt. I get the same way when people make rude comments, but try to not let it get to me since they're rude people in general. I wouldn't take evals too personal. I find that it's easier for people to find negative things, or just write nothing at all. Sorry if this sounds depressing, but you're a professor who challenges students, and it's up to the student to meet you halfway in the learning process. Just my opinion.

I'm just selfish and want that braided strap on there :P The thing is, I'd like to have the rolled handles on the shoulder too. That way the bag can show off the details when worn. I can't see it as a hand-held handle, and would like to keep the rolled handles white. Is a braided crossbody over doing it? /asks sheepishly

Braided. Cross. Body.

Seriously... don't think it's necessarily overdoing it, but it seems like it would add a ton of weight. I guess I'm imagining your bag along the lines of a Trophy--meant to be worn on the shoulder w/ the rolled handles. Substantial, elegant, doesn't add any busyness. If you want the cross-body option with the 8" rolled handle, I'd think about the Wyeth strap (flat w/the little padded shoulder piece).

OR do short little handles like on the Trophy AND the shoulder-length braided.

I just can't see the braided as a cross-body; too bulky and heavy. And I can't see having shoulder-ready (Trophy) double-handles AND a braided strap of roughly the same length. I dunno... might need to get your braided handle fix on the Trophy Satchel in Yam Shine or the purple...?

The braided strap seems like it would be overwhelming at crossbody length. Sounds like you need both a lightweight crossbody strap and the braided shoulder strap A girl needs options!

Lol, I'm really looking for an excuse to use a braided strap.

And keep the rolled handles at the 8" drop since that's part of the design of the bag. The braided strap is really extra.

Trying to force something that I know deep down won't work.

Sigh :P

^But it DOES work, the same bag will look different carried by a shoulder strap or by top handles, even if the drop is close to the same. Since the braided handles are detachable, maybe you can ask for them to be a little longer than you had planned? When you're using the braided handles, the top handles become a decorative feature of the bag. When you're using the top handles, the braided handle becomes a decorative feature too YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL!

And RealRMC (sorry Missty, we are all so good at stealing your thread) - thanks for posting pics of the "Pallenberg Duffel, S/S 07" a page ago. I was getting really stuck and I think you've given me the HH inspiration I needed. I wanted to incorporate front pockets a bit like the pockets on that bag, but I couldn't quite visualize it in my mind. We're getting closer :)

Default Goldfish Charm Specs

Hi Thuy

The sample of the goldfish charm will be the prototype, not in your actual leather. I made it bit larger to accommodate the details and added stitchlines to piece it together. Once the prototype makes it here from the sample room, we can review and make appropriate revisions.
