I prefer #2.

It looks more like a water lilly with its outer petals laying down and open, cupping the middle petals that sit upright and pointy...

I like the helio one too, but not sure if it's too boring. The petal one was my attempt at making something flowerish, but there's no flower, lol :P

Ah, RMC and jennirane on the spot.

Jennirane, you're right about the 2nd one being more harmonious I was trying to stay away from too many angles and embrace more curves to create that feminine mystique (not the 1960's Frieden mystique :P). I think that's one of the reasons I like the trophy. The applique had full, soft curves and became a feminine, elegant focal point - your eyes can't help be drawn to the design. I don't think mine can hit that same spot as the trophy, since it's gathering other design aspects from the swoop to the braided knots. I hope the design itself isn't all over the place.

RMC - I love your comparison! It draws back to the flower design I was hoping for, but couldn't come up with. Maybe I can try to add more curve and see what happens. The lotus love flower - all peace and harmony.

Ummm...amigas, RMcC...Jennie...

Thuy especially, you....thank you for allowing us to be privy to this process and to post feedback..I don't know how to do this and I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings so please I beg you...take it in the spirit of sharing..I may not be right and it's purely subjective on my part.

I have to say this..because this is what hit me as soon as I looked at all the sketches and saw what was being narrowed down..and the last two or three...please don't be angry..but for some reason I keep seeing me looking at myself under the sheet at the gyno's office...or a turkey with it's wings after roasting..I liked some of the curved ones.

Please please please..I beg you, don't be offended. I have to run..I'm insane right now...students, bar mitzvah speeches, funeral oratation to write for a friend, packages to mail..I need a life.

I miss you..I've been on another forum because of a particular issue that a friend is having..but I haven't abandoned you guys.

XOXO

gingey

LOL Gingey, I sort of thought the same thing for some of them, but I doubt Thuy will be offended. Labia are very flower-petal like. I think it's lovely to acknowledge it... not that we have to dwell on it! I mean, my Tharpe is the va-jay-jay purse. Thuy's is a lovely blend of femininity and strength.

This picture reminds me of the side of my orsay satchel. It's one of my fav. details to the bag.

Gingey, jenni is right, why would I be offended? We all love your vajayjay tharpe bags (me and jenni are yammie vajayjays especially)

If anything, makes it more feminine

I redid it a little bit, and added more curvature. I think I'll send it to Joanne to get her POV too. Thoughts?

and the helio for kicks

The top one looks even more like a lotus now... beautiful!

I think what the helio was reminding me of was a sword hilt/handle (something wrapped in leather) which, now that I recognize it, maybe isn't so good "stabbing" the bag... like the blade is inside... and after our earlier discussion, too masculine?

No! ... scratch that. It DOES look more lotus-like on its own (the interior design) but going back and forth between the two, I actually like the original (less curvy) better... I like the contrast between the angles inside and the curving shape outside. I think the first design shows strength and femininity. I miss the two straight angles on the second one... TOO many curves.

I agree with jenni in that I kinda like the first version worked a bit better. I thought that the angles and folds in that one were balanced with the curves...now something feels a little off. But I also think that getting a little more literal--but subtle--with the lotus would work well too!

I agree with this - I like this design over the new one. I think it's simple and elegant, it won't look too complicated but will add an interesting element to the bag. I assume the details will be done in the contrast leather (eucalyptus right?). The new one (the newest one you added) looks too squished together IMO! :)

Jenni, paelaf, truereligion, thank you for all your input. :) I wanted to play with the design more when we were still on the topic of feminine = curves and came out with the newer design. I agree, I miss the contrast of the first sketch. it looks more balanced and not as literal.

True - I was thinking about making the appliqué in the main color, keepin it white. It'll be a more subtle detail, I didn't want the contrast color to overwhelm the bag. My biggest fear is making it look too busy all over.

On another note, Joanne emailed me back on my question. The white james dean leather was used as a trim (not all over) in the S/S 07 line. I didn't have time to research it yet, but I was wonderin if the HH veterans might know.

Also, the goldfish charm will be ready in a few weeks! I'm not sure if she meant her sketch, or the actual charm itself, but it sounds like the charm.

And how's your design coming along, true? Have you decided yet?
