Default Looking for a bag recommendation
Ok, so I'm thinking about getting my mom a HH bag for her birthday/christmas gift....and I need some suggestions...she wanted a michael Kors, but I haven't found one I like...

Ideally, the bag would have either two handles or a short strap. But, being plushy ladies, I need the straps to have a decent drop so she can put it on her shoulder and have a little room so that the bag hits about by her elbow...

leather...
black prefereably...
oh and a zipper closure....
and maybe more than one cavernous compartment inside....maybe

any suggestions?

Have you looked at a Mercer Satchel? Or perhaps a Sonia for a deeper bag?

It sounds like you're describing the black shine Trophy Satchel.

Merry - sounds close but I think she wants a bit more strap drop? Trophy is 9 - 10" which might not be enough???

ETA - oh sorry - maybe you were referring to the trophy satchel???

Yes I was referring to the TS. I am smitten with the double zipper compartments!

When I read your description, I thought, CONRAD!

(Um, I'm sure that has very little to do with me just having watched the HH Conrad youtube video. And I'm also sure that it has very little to do with the fact that maybe I need one like, right now!)

I agree, Mango. I think the Conrad sounds perfect.

i was thinking about the conrad...but if the TS has multiple compartments, that might be right up her alley....she's carrying a big patent bulgaggi now...which has nice straps, but everything sinks straight to the bottom....

Do you think she would like a black tharpe? That bag has lots of orgainization and a strap drop of 10".

Regarding the Trophy, I wear them on my shoulder and I am 5'9" tall and a plus size 3x. I think on some of these bags, the strap drop is deceiving. I think HH measures the distance from top of bag to top of handle with the bag fully stuffed for photography or laying flat. Unless you fill your bag to the top edge, you won't come up with the same dimension. I know from bags that I've re-homed.

Some bags can have a shorter strap drop but still work as s shoulder bag if the leather top of the bag is soft enough that it drapes down a bit providing another 1" or so of arm maneuver room.

PIM, if the Conrad would be big enough for her I've always thought it had a Marc Jacobs look to it with the double pockets. What is it she likes about MK? Shape? Studs? Quilting? And if she doesn't follow the season's styles (or wouldn't care) I've seen MK at TJMaxx a LOT. (Wish I could find some MJ there!)

Otherwise, I think the Tharpe/Trophy Satchel drop should be enough...
