I'm staying away from the auction because of my "kinda broke and semi-banned" status. If my Zeldas don't go on sale soon, I think my lust for them will fade as the weather warms up and I decide I can wait for the Fall stuff.

I buy whatever I can bookwise used. There's a textbook swap that my kids and their friends organized at the college so that students can swap one semester's textbooks for the other..as close to dollar for dollar as they can if they wish.

I shop for non-perishibles on sale..and stock up...using double coupons (and freebies too) that I find online. I always alway always buy clothing and shoes off season. No I don't pay full price for anything..no matter how badly I want it. I can't...and I won't. Period.

I don't subscribe to magazines..I can take them out of the library..it's not earthshattering if I read InStyle or People a week or two later..I doubt it'll affect my life..I don't have cable..but might have to if this darn service provider doesn't take viagra or something.

We've also set up something fun among my friends who live in nearby nabes. We meet at one friend's house..who has an empty nest..bring dinner..libations..and clothing and accessories..(no shoes..ich on used shoes)....and then we swap amongst ourselves..it's fun..and since we look so different..and wear things so differenly with our own sense of style..no one but us knows the truth behind the outfits that we get complimented on..LOL..wink wink.

(When I was in college I grew my hair down to my waist and sold it to a wigmaker who once stopped me to ask if I was interested..it creeped me out at first..until she told me what she would pay...$XXXX if I cut it up to my shoulders. I did it twice..and then I got creeped out again..the thought of my hair on someone else's head..ucccccccccccccch..now I might do it..but alas, I am no longer a "natural" redhead..LOL).

AND...I shop physical and online sample sales..and try to know the lowest price something has been before I go..because..I can be broke..and semi banned..and buy a bag or two on my wish list..feel like I've gotten something new (to me)...and still not succumb to temptation..I have now officially bought what I want from HH for Spring..and will not buy another bag until the HH Fall sale drops...

Hey hey ladies! I'm broke and semi-banned, too. Was on a full ban, but DH and I decided that wasn't the healthiest way to operate. He was feeling like the 'Bad Guy' and I didn't want to get to a point where there was resentment in our relationship...

So- I only buy with cash. If I don't have it, I can't spend it. I get a dollar in a savings account for every day I drink my full 8 glasses of water (cuz I suck at that and need some incentive). And my trick to avoid purchasing more bags: Whenever I feel the pull, I yank all my lovelies out of the closet, spread them out in a circle around me, and play like a little girl:) It usually helps me to appreciate what I have and feel a little silly for wanting more... then I wise up (usually) and turn off the laptop.

OK... back to doing my taxes. Oh my hell... it's baaaaaad....

Know what's funny to me?
I wasn't tempted by the samples or auctions because I am waiting for Pompidou. I still have HH credit, too.

So, what to do while waiting for Pompidou ?
...lots of sketching and cutting and stitching away on marvelous leather.

I like Bon's way of basking in what you already have.

Being semi-banned is like a diet that allows a little cheating so you don't obsess over the deprivation. Much less stress.

I haven't had any good barters lately but did that a lot in California.

Has anyone an Orange account ? I was thinking of a llttle ING.
