Hi everyone - I am new to HH (used to be an LP girl) and I have a few questions I was hoping you guys could answer!I just bought a few things with the coupon code last night and I am very excited to get them I will def post pics!
1. What is the BB sale? What does BB stand for....? When does this sale happen? 2. I really like the saddle color - does the Havana Hobo come in Saddle at all? Is it sold out or did it never come in that color? Do they change up the colors of that bag from season to season? I wanted to buy one with the code but I wasnt crazy about the colors except Ginger but I still have a Tangerine LP.....I like my bags to be summery and wintery at the same time so I get more use out of them hahha. Thanks a lot! I am excited to be an HH girl now

Welcome again, MolMol.
"BB sale" stands for "Big Bang" sale, and it's in July. Make sure you sign up for HH's newsletter on their site, and you'll get an e-mail invitation. HH no longer makes the saddle color - your best bet to find a saddle Havana is on eBay or Bonanzle or like places. |

Welcome, MolMol. Glad to hear you're giving HH a try. I think you will love their leathers. Which things did you get with your coupon? Havana is a wonderful introduction to HH leather. From what I've seen the past year and half - and from studying earlier collections - HH likes to change up their browns and tans. They don't seem to use the same neutral every season. Which I like because I am into the browns/tans. I only own one black bag, the Black Zeus Trophy Bag. Stay enough seasons with HH and you can gain a nice collections of earthtones. It seams they do each style from a collection in a foundational color like black; a neutral like brown, tan, or gray; and an accent color or two.
Most likely, some of the brandy pieces will carry into the A/W 09 collection. I noticed some of the trim on the Athena sac and tote is the same trim used on pieces in the fall grouping. I would imagine they will carry that one through, just like they did a couple cordovan pieces (like the Wyeth) from the A/W 08 in the spring group. So, come Fall, you will have "brown" choices between brandy and the new "cognac" (?). I put a question mark with the cognac because I bought a one-of-a-kind from their design process when they put it up on auction. It is a beautiful cognac color. Lighter than the brandy - darker than the saddle. In between the two. Plus, it has a bit more of orange-red in it. |

You all came on board just in time to get prepared for the Big Bang Sale. It takes training. Things happen so fast and sporadically in an HH sale, you need to know your bags ahead of time. Unlike other companies (like LP) that post their reductions and leave them until they sell out, HH likes to play musical chairs. Sometimes they will post only 15 of an item at a way low price for just a few minutes - and then pull it. Just to keep us in a frenzy... which we do quite well.

Not usually... that was an awesome special thing where they auctioned off samples and things from the fall collection that aren't going into production (for the most part). One-of-a-kinds or thereabouts. Kind of like that last LP sale with the colors that didn't make it for spring, but as an auction instead of just a sale.

Ahem...may I introduce myself...and say hi from someone who is a bit less of a newbie..to..you guys....I think I already said hey to you MolMol..but heck..why not.
Welcome to the madness newbies...welcome MolMol and He Emma. I climbed on board this roller coaster right before the Halloween sale. I went a bit nuts during the two sales in October and November so please accept this in the spirit that it is offered.... First thing. Don't buy because you see something is reduced to a crazy price. Buy something because you've carefully studied what is available not only this season but also past seasons..because IMHO..things pop up that were supposedly sold out or out of stock. Also..ITA with all of the above..it's kind of absurd how HH prices things during sales..no rhyme or reason..so if you see something at a price you can live with..strike..but be prepared to see it at a lower price..or a higher price later on during the same sale. HH does not do price adjustments so it's a gamble. Now, something else about strategic buying, especially during crazy sales..something I learned very painfully. Shipping costs add up and when buying in the heat of the moment you may not realize just how much you are paying for shipping, or what you are doing to get free shipping. Often you will wind up buying "fillers" in order to get free shipping and when you get them, you will kick yourself in the head because you spent money on small stuff that you had budgeted for a few bigger purchases. However, if you have a need for the small stuff for gifts or personal use..go for it. It's a matter of personal choice. Just a head's up. On the other hand..if you wait to purchase something because you get free shipping with any purchase over let's say $250..then you have to decide does it pay to get the free shipping because you really need those extras.. or are you "buying stupid" and getting things to fill in for the extra bucks? If so..pay to ship the one purse and move on until something you really want comes up for sale at a good price... not only that..but while you wait to fill your cart, that one choice purse or tote might very well sell out. So bite the bullet and if it's really something you can't live without..don't wait to fill in those extras. What you also have to take into consideration is whether there will be free shipping or not no matter how minimal the amount is of your purchase. If there is free shipping..then load up your cart or buy things one at a time because it doesn't matter how much or how little you buy. If you see one item on your wish list, but nothing else, buy it pronto if there's free ship. If you have to pay shipping per package no matter how big or small the purchase..then it might not pay for you to buy one item if it's a small ticket item. But, for example, if it's a significantly discounted $600 purse..then it pays to pay the extra to ship one item if there's a chance that it will sell out quickly. If someone will be kind enough to fill in some information about phantom stock, and how long something will be held in a cart and whether or not things can be purchased out of someone else's cart..and all of the other glitches we've experienced..better yet..read through all of the threads about sales, glitches and other anomolies that we've all dealt with both as newbies and battle scarred veterans of the HH sales wars. If you live in NYC or State..taxes are also added to the cost of the item..and too shipping btw..big OUCH! I have to run..but since the time of BB is quickly drawing closer..I just wanted you to be aware of some of the options..and prepare yourself by looking through everything to make rational decisions....something I did not do in the beginning which has lead me to a great deal of joy..but also some "WTF was I thinking" moments. Hindsight being 20/20 and all..LOL |
