That's what I should have done this year .. gotten my MIL a bag!! Her bday is in Feb though so maybe that's what I'll do for her! The bag she is carrying now .. she took my son to the mall with her .. when he was 13 (he's 17 now) and asked him which bag he liked best. Seriously .. that's how she decided what she wanted. She told me she figured the teens would know what was in and what wasn't. I asked my son about it and he said he got tired of standing around and pointed to the first black bag .. she looked at the price and said, "No way." - he then turned completely around and pointed to the next black bag .. and that's what she went with.

OK, cho-hottness, time to educate the uneducated. Can you point me to a short and simple web site about being Jewish? Just the basics? Or am I asking the impossible? I'm guessing that my "bury" comment has something to do with that? Or did I not 'get you' this time around? I mean, I like to learn about different things - I only recently found out what '7th Heaven' REALLY means - and there's a '7th Hell', too, doncha know. One of my co-workers is Buddhist.

OH, such a generational thing - I'd bet these ladies are about the same age... or maybe ... I dunno. I was just going to be sure of myself on the 'generation' thing, but then thought of another woman in the neighborhood who is about my MIL's ago and she's all about BLING and handbags.

Oh India..you didn't get me.. I was laughing cuz you said to send me over to you dead... nothing to do with the fact that I'm Jewish.. (sidenote: Jews are supposed to be buried within 24 hours.. eeekk... mlinky correct me if I am wrong please...)
As for Judaism.. I am NOT the best to ask... I married a Catholic, so right there that shows you how non-religious (??) I can be/am.... my kids will probably be raised Catholic too....DH is just much much more religious than I am.. and I respect him wanting his kids christened... BUT.. we're not quite there yet..
Maybe a google search... Judaism for Dummies?? I should check it out too... would make my Mom soooo proud..

Non-Jewish, resident expert I am NOT.......but, I have the benefit of only having serious bfs that were/are (I'm assuming) Jewish and DH is Jewish and I am not.....but than, he's about as Jewish as I am 6 feet tall.
So - with that caveat......

yes, burial must be quick because there is no such thing as embalming.
and, the ultimate sin is to be cremated, and not buried in "total"!

cho-baby.....
you are doing a mitzvah (a good deed), helping others who may need your help. and no whining, unless your last name ends in "berg"......you are not entitled to whine. LOL.

India -
basic premise.....Jews believe in the old testament (not the new), the "second coming" has yet to come, there is no such thing as heaven.....one must do good deeds while in their present world and not think that an "after-life" at the hand of God is the goal to have in mind. The "high holy" days are Passover, Rosh Hashanah (New Year) and Yom Kippur (the day of atonement.......where one must come to terms w/your God, ask forgiveness from those that you have wronged, and get on the "right track" for the coming year). Lots of personal acccountability - at least theroretically.

okay - that's it. Let's all eat/drink/and be Merry!

and cho-baby....we're gonna have to work on your "aim"......missing the porcelain budda, yikes! oohhh, not a pretty sight....but I bet you felt a lot better, yes?????
and HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BABY BABY BABY!!!!

Funny you should mention last names ending in 'berg' - that would be me, but DH is Swedish Episcopalian. LOL. Thanks for the great information!!! I knew most of it, but it's nice to have it all together.

OH! I love this idea! If only I could talk DH into not doing the FAMILY thing every year on Christmas Day! I would LOVE to have this as a tradition!!!

Thanks for all the wonderful input, ladies!

Well my Havana is here in town ... when I say "here in town" - it's just arrived at the USPS station and will eventually sit there all lonely until tomorrow when it'll be delivered.

I wonder if I'll look completely insane if I go in there and ask as sweetly as I can if someone can go search in the back for my box and explain how I need my Havana right this minute!

^^ I think you should try it. I've always wanted to do that, when my bag arrived in town on a Saturday and sat there all weekend when I could have easily driven to the UPS place and picked it up. I want to know if it works for you. :)

Wow!!! Someone will snap that goat up quickly! Anyone know what the live.com money back amount is these days? When I bought my emerald goat I think I am to get $100 back.

It's only 8%, Cindy - damn it.

EDIT - I take that back - looks like e-Bay's not doing the Cashback anymore - now stores are showing up, but now e-Bay ...

Well that's too bad. That was a huge incentive for people to do the BIN feature. Maybe ebay'll do the cashback thing again in the future.
