OOps - Gewurtztraminer. I think I spelt it right this time. I must have been slurring my werdz as I typed....

It's white wine. Yummy - can be a bit on sweet side sometimes but there are drier gewurtz's around. It is a good wine to have with some spicy stronger tasting food. Had chicken pasta with roasted garlic and peanut sauce so the wine was perfect.

No - DH was on kitchen duty. I coached him through a shopping trip over the phone - actually he is super great - cooks, cleans, irons and shops. It's just that he has a penchant to want to have big meat dinners. On top of work, school, renovation etc. my kitty in my avatar (Bella) has been throwing up for a day and a half so my DD took her to the vet today while I was at school. Kitty had xray, medicines, hydration and is back home but not allowed to eat or drink until tomorrow. So I was picking her up while DH cooked.

Thanks eyeheart!!! I hope she's better too! They didn't see anything on the xray so we're hoping it's just gastritis and that her tummy settles down and not something more serious. She is my little baby but she is 12 years old and has always been a tiny little thing. Spunky but frail. She was the runt of the litter and is only about 8 lbs. Two years ago she was attacked by a raccoon, went missing for 2 days and I was just a sobbing mess. She finally dragged herself across the neighbour's lawn, her back hips were badly dislocated, her legs had been bitten and chewed and she had a raging infection. She almost died but thankfully survived after much medical treatment. I think she used up a bunch of her nine lives then.

Thanks, will definitely check these out. Been reading lots of Russian lit lately. Not sure why I like it so much, but it probably is the "strangeness". Oddly, it seems so much more true to life than "non-strange" stuff. Perhaps it's time to diversify. The Babel sounds like something I would like too - will give them all a try.

Sally, I hope Bella is feeling better soon.

I'm always up for lit. suggestions. At the bookstore they always suggest obscure, highbrow stuff that is only highbrow because it's difficult to read and not necessarily very well written or interesting.

Mmmm, love that wine (won't even try to spell it). Whenever my GFs and I go out for dinner--which isn't often enough, now that we all have kids--someone inevitably orders a bottle. I'm not much of a drinker, so I'm usually sloshed by dessert and making a fool of myself .

Your DH seems like a dream! Your dinner sounds delectable! Mine is great at cleaning, but hasn't mastered much more than microwaving a can of Chef Boyardee. He does know to take it out of the can first

I hope your kitty feels more perky tomorrow.

Ok, I have been away dealing with a family crisis for a while. The crisis is on going, but I am missing you all. What did I miss? Why have so many of you got hot mens as your avatar?

I am hoping to be back more regularly soon. Say a little prayer or send some positive energy my way because my marriage seriously needs it right now! TIA!!!

Laura, have you "The Master and Margarita?!" PLEEEEAZE put it on your list of Russian lit books to read.... It's soooo cool, about the devil coming down to visit/wreck a city (forgot which, St. Petersburg?) and his kitty/helper and an ordinary woman who saves the day by becoming a sex bomb/witch.... You'll love it!

Laura, not real Russian lit, but I included it in my "Living and Writing in Queens" senior seminar reading list. "Whatever Happened to Anna K", a take on the original from a Bukharian and Ashkenizic Russian Jewish perspective, which is what is playing out in my borough.

Purpose of class was a Sociology creative writing, analysis and discussion from immigrants' POVs. Multicultural class, all immigrants or children of immigrants. The class discussions were electrifying.

DS has me reading Georges Perec...when I have time.

Enga..I'm going to see if I can find it..thanx!
