A thread for Gaza owners, past and present...a place to describe your adventures with your hobo or satchel whether it be leather or canvas...
The inspiration for this thread? My Bittersweet Gaza Satchel...a wonderfully cool bag that makes me feel like I'm going on safari every time I carry it. Except....it has sooo many pockets that it drives me nuts! I love organization but this is perhaps a bag that only someone with severe OCD could truly appreciate. My own adventure happened about a month or so ago...I was changing out bags after carrying my Gaza. My Motorola bluetooth headset, a H15 that I REALLY like, was nowhere to be found. It's a small little bugger that could have easily been accidentally dropped but I had carefully secured it in one of the pockets, so I was perplexed... I never did find it and eventually wound up buying a replacement. Having said that, I will not be surprised if it shows up in the Gaza sometime in the future. Perhaps in a pocket I never knew about.... |

Syb , your bluetoof could be in the lining. One of my Gaza Satchels came unfinished, with an open side seam inside a pocket. I haven't repaired it because I like the secret compartment it creates, good for crossing the Bolivan Border on foot where they take all day, flirt, call Interpol if you have too many stamps in your passport, make you wait while they close for lunch and a nap too, I suppose.
I took my Bittersweet, (can't abbreviate this one can we?) to do taxes and the tax lady thought it was a magic bag, whipping out everything in order. As a rule I hate organized bags, my system is pouches that switch quickly, but I love love love my Gazas. As you know, I don't carry a lot, so the front pockets actually hold all my personal gear, and the innards carry work. I have to have precise locations for everything while traveling, so I can navigate jet-lagged and still keep it together. This is the genius of Gaza. Aubergine Angie weekender has helped me get over the prune obsession. Has anyone seen the locust color, persian rose, black leather Gaza, or the black nylon with chocolate leather trim in person ? Gaza can be a little manifestant, too. I needed a new pair of thread snips and before I had a chance to pick some up, my teal gaza arrived. Mindful of the above mentioned unsewn pocket, I inspected the bag carefully. Guess what I found in one of the front pockets ! At first I was a little miffed, because if my eyes were not with my hands diving in the pocket, I could have been badly cut. But then I had to thank the Universe for providing me this small thing that I needed (and the tired Chinese worker who forgot them). I still think the Gazas were the best-constructed bags HH ever made, before they started skimping on materials and details. I have only two Gaza hobos, but love them almost as well as the satchels. The canvas/cloud one is light as air. Syb, you're right that it shares a sense of adventure. I could even wear my bush hat when I carry Gaza... |

Stormy, I've never seen a Gaza in teal, locust, black or persian rose. I know I sure love my prune lovely.

I really covet y'all's Gazas. Would be perfect for traveling in the far reaches of the globe! How rugged is the leather?
