Neither would the Origami for that matter. I like that you don't have to worry about the leather on the Gaza Hobo especially with kids in tow. I didn't really use a diaper bag. I just used my usual bags & made sure I put the cap on the baby bottle to prevent accidents. Don't see too many Gazas anymore especially at the great price on bonanzle! Wish I wasn't on a ban right now... btw, what's up with "reported" ?? ^^

Eye- heart - LOVE your avatar!
Yeah - I don't know what's up with reported either? Mystery. Is it because we made a joke about size? Back to topic - I don't have a gaza or an origami but it looks like the leather on the gaza would be great - nice and thick and good for wearing around. It looks like the origami leather is a bit more delicate (at least from the pics). I vote gaza! |

I love that you all have such great info about HH stuff! I am totally bummed that I cancelled the Origami order now.
This is what I think I am going to do... I am buying a cordovan Wyeth Tote for sure and I am pretty sure that as much as I *love* the bark Gaza hobo, it is too small for me to use as an everyday bag. If I want small for a dinner out with hubs, I gravitate to my Lorca's which can be dressed up or down. I'll also watch for a brandy Origami, Corc, Tamasin and Trophy to pop up somewhere and just try them out. I can always re-sell as necessary. And of course, something will always show up that I *have* to have to my plan will fail as usual. ![]() The hard part is that I am so close to being out of the diaper bag stage but my kids (2&4) still need me to carry little things for them even if I'm not hauling around diapers anymore. |

About the "reported", yes...there was some spamming. Someone posted a whole bunch of links.
As for mommy bags, for myself, I find that none of the diaper bags I bought in the past were useful at all. I ended up using a huge tote bag which hb got from a conference in Florida. Then I got a Samsonite backpack which was sooo good with its many compartments and neat little details. We still use that bag for travels or when we need to be out for a whole day. It holds a lot, is well-organised and is easy on the shoulders. Now that I have no need to bring out diapers or milk bottles anymore, I mostly stick to my small Kipling backpack. The bag is small, but I can stuff in an extra t-shirt or 2, 2 waterbottles (one for each of my kids), snacks and some toys etc. I use the main compartment for their things and an umbrella, but the middle compartment I save for my own stuff--a paperback, my pouch and wallet. The "smallest" compartment in front I use for my bunch of keys, phone and other assortment of items. It's a good little bag because I can chuck it into the washing machine to get it clean, which is so essential for crumbs and spills. I ought to be more careful, but with kids, sometimes just stuffing the things back into the bag is all the time that I had. And because I'm lazy to switch my things around, I tend to also carry this bag when I'm out by myself too. I love this bag so much that I actually bought *2*--same colour and same style. ![]() It's this one: http://kip.imageg.net/graphics/produ...413163v380.jpg My Havana and Origami bags I use only when I don't have to tote my kids' stuff around. I get annoyed when sticky stuff got loose in my bag and I can't just scrub it clean, but only to give it a wipedown. |

The Gaza hobo is much roomier than it seems, and outrageously comfortable to carry, even fully weighted.
My objection to Origami is Henry Beguelin parachute bag: HELP!! !!! Gaza satchel would be a great Mom bag, every kid gets his own pocket for hot wheels, snackkies, seashells, trolls, whatever the play of the day is. |

When I'm out with kids (6 and 4), I'm finding that I like to use huge, durable bags still. We're beyond diapers, but now I'm carrying around more clothing, water bottles, snacks, and whatever the kids left the house with and don't want to carry anymore. So I'm liking my Corcovado and also my Not Rational Sofia bag.

It looks like most specs I could find on the Gaza satchel says it has a 9" strap drop. Either I need to do some tricep toning or get a thinner winter coat.

^Old Luna Boston page says 9"...don't know why. I measured several times tonight and never got less than 10."
I swear I'm not a guy. |

syb..is that drop measured when fully extend or at rest? (Was the pun intended re: title of thread?)
SB..re: Gaza Hobo..I don't know much about the hobo but I do own two lambskin Gaza satchels. I live in NYC and the handle drop is fine over my bulkiest coat. I'm 5' 1" and wear anything from about a 6 to a 12, because in this case, size doesn't matter..at least when it comes to fitting clothes on me (pun intended..hence the clarification.) I swear the satchel an amazing magic bag. It's almost like a mini-Corc..it has so many inside and outside pockets that I sometimes forget what's where! I actually own two pre-loved ones, bittersweet which will be used as soon as I admit that it's really fall..and taupe which I used on and off this summer..OMG..and another in mocha denim and chalk leather that I never used..I keep forgetting I have it! Roomy bag with pockets that fits over a coat without a problem is the Tharpe. Some women have issues with the flap but I love it and I have issues with the beloved Havana that others adore..chacon a son gout (to each his own) ? (Slightly off topic..Lesa Wallace's Prosperity bag is also lightweight and very functional..my kids call it the "Mary Poppins Bag"..I was gifted it by a friend, DD grabbed it, and now I borrow it from her..and I believe Not Rational and others make similar bags as well..ach..I'm still a bag hoor aren't I?) I just got a Eucalyptus Origami (long story)..not sure how I feel about it but it looks like it will hold a ton..I kept putting things into it and it kept expanding. But I'd have to keep things in pouches and carry-alls to find them. But for my, it's just a bit weird looking..sorta like a deflated Macy's TG day parade turkey balloon..I find it vaguely disturbing IRL. BTW..stormy..besides the Beguilin bag, I can't tell you how many other "Origami-like" bags I've seen on websites and IRL..none of which were HH's..so what came first..the fortune cookie shape..the old school "fortune tellers" we used to make as kids, or the bag..and if so..which designer came first? (blammy..you seriously need to come to NYC and shop in Century21..they got a whole shipment in of Beguilin shoes..which I by-passed because I have to shop for me AND the kidsters..dang it..they are gorgeousity for feet!) |
