I also think the Corcovado is fabulous - BUT - when using the turnlocks to "shrink" the bag down, the opening becomes more narrow and I struggle to get things in/out of it........
as evidenced by the great photos jenn has provided and the insight of both her and RM....if there's one thing you can always depend on in a HOTTIE....
it's DETAILS!!!! love you guys, really!

AND, I have always had just bag lust for the very same Bea.....the print, the color, BUT - it's just way too big for me. I also wish it would find the perfect home....makes me kinda sad.....

RMC & Jenn- Thanks for all the info and pics!
I would love to see some Sonia vs Corcovado pics. Is the Sonia Width deeper than the Corc?

I'll post some later this week, if RMC doesn't beat me to it. First response is to say that the Corc is still a bit deeper, but I think the Sonia is longer (taller?) than the Corc. The other useful thing on the Sonia is the 3 compartment thingy (it's like a grown-up Mercer 3C Satchel) which I'm thinking will be GREAT on campus to keep folders separate.

I pretty much agree with what everyone else has said. It really depends on what you carry to work: files/folders/notebooks or random-shaped objects. The sonia is great for files and folders because there are three openings and they are large. The corc is the perfect tote for just about everything else. I favor the corc more just purely for its looks and multiple exterior pockets. I tote a lot of folders and notebooks to work but I use a computer bag for those items and my laptop, and the corc for everything else.

Actually, the straps on the Sonia are rolled, not flat. One of my criticisms of this bag is that the straps aren't as soft or comfy as I would like and the drop is a bit short.

Everyone has already provided excellent advice but I'll chime in - I have the Sonia and its my preferred tote for when I'm all business - it's the easiest to get files/papers/wallets in and out of. The Anthracite leather also is so easy to wear, and resists all kinds of stuff you can encounter on a messy city commute.

I prefer the looks of my Corcs however, but they are not early as easy as my Sonia for easy access and entry. I tend to use them more for overnight/gym/carryon bags where I'm stuffing clothes or smaller paperbacks inside. The turnlocks on the Corcs tend to pop open (I have KP and Pewter) and that irks me too... but they are GOOD LOOKIN', that's for sure.

I also wanted to echo Leo's vote for the Trophy - this has a slight edge over the Sonia in a handy outside pocket that is really nice for keys/metro card/phone. I also prefer the look to Sonia in the neatness/cleaness of the top zipper closure. It's also crazy comfy to wear since the top is tapered and fits neatly under the arm. I have this in BZ and it's quite beloved!

*Eeeeeee* all this talk of totes is getting me excited for school to start! It's ALMOST time to hit Office Depot for a new planner, pens, whatever cool manilla folders and such I can find!!! And now I have the Trophy and Sonia to "spell" the Corc, I'm all set!!

Should add, too, that in a pinch or on "light" days (not too many books) I've carried my Tharpe or Sloane. The E/W shape of them works well as an "open" tote as RMC talked about the Bea.

Man, all this Corco talk is making me wish i had snapped up the cordovan when it was dirt-cheap for 10 minutes last winter. I know, I know, it's heavy, but I love the cordovan leather and I would have just dealt with it.

Maybe a brandy Trophy would satisfy the craving...

GO Girl!!

And I haven't seen it in person--obviously Cordovan is amazing--but in the photos I've seen it doesn't seem to me to do justice to the edginess of the Corcovado. Same thing with the Emerald (I KNOW... don't shoot me!!). I think it looks best sort of crisp in the two patents. It's so boxy that the heavier, softer leathers round it out too much. I dunno.

Ha, ha, jenni, I mentioned to my kids earlier that I had just emailed their high school to volunteer for registration day, and they looked at me like I was a blood-sucking vampire. Not everyone is getting excited for school to start!

I have been using the Ibiza flight tote in Olive as my Fall work tote for several years now and it's absolutely perfect. You have two strap options, the front two pockets are perfect for holding water, the body of the bag is large enough for a laptop and the back pocket is perfect for a PDA. And there's enough room to stuff everything else you might bring to work.

So you think the brandy Trophy is the "It" bag?

Surely you misunderstand. They were merely alarmed that there was still so much prep to do---they want to be completely ready to rock-and-roll on day one! There's still a couple of weeks left. They can cram in another Hardy novel

Nah. I know. I was a nerdy kid who LOVED back to school. I think it's a litmus test they could just weed us out in the fifth grade.

Counselor: "Jennifer, how are you feeling now that classes have started again?"
Student: "OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY!! What are we reading this year? Where are the book covers?"
Counselor: "Well Mrs. Smith, I'm sorry. We'll just fast-track her to grad school. I'd go ahead and take out that second mortgage now, and don't anticipate that she'll be able to support you in your old age. I'm so sorry."

I'm still sort of in awe of my Black Trophy. I peek at it every few days, like a new boyfriend... well, exactly like when I first started dating DH. You're for ME??? No... you're too pretty. Other girls get to wear you... I get used Tharpes

And I'm really impressed with the Brandy, now that I've seen it in person. It's richer and has more variations in it. I still want something in Cordovan (hell-O Havana!!)

So if you don't have a Trophy yet, YUP. It's the IT bag.
