I, too, wasn't into the grape until I saw it IRL. Now I am ready to pounce on the Emile clutch wallet in grape when it goes on sale, to match my Emile chequebook cover.

^^ Tell, merry! I'm agreeing with jenni, in the HH pics it looks too pastel. I'm also going to check out Luciana's pics.

Merry, yes, describe!! Let's see if this works... it's the Lilly, Newman (? Or Yves) and Emile, which are in Grape, right? It looks much darker, like the Aubergine...

And here's the IRL shot of the Grape Lilly from HH... maybe this is the closest? Not as pastel as the stock shots, but not quite as dark/reddish as Luciana's pick... Merry, which is closest to the IRL?

OK here are pics of my Emile chequebook cover in grape. My apartment faces north so I only get indirect sunlight. I can take it out to the park next to my apartment to get direct sun, but I don't want to be known as the crazy lady who takes pics of her wallet. LOL

Pics without flash in indirect sunlight. These pics best represent the colour.

Here are pics of the wallet taken with flash. You can see what a difference it makes to the colour's appearance! It does not appear as bright purple IRL.

Thanks, Merry! It IS darker purple IRL... seems like a "true" purple, as opposed to the Aubergine which obviously has the red undertones. I think I could do either. I wonder what the difference is in the feel of the leather and amount of shine? Is the Grape on the stiff side? Medium shine?

My chequebook wallet does not look as reddish/aubergine as these photos depict. Apparently it's a chameleon colour, very difficult to capture on film. lol

Hmm I would say this colour is closer to my chequebook cover IRL, if you shone a bright spotlight on it. Or maybe I just need to get away from the computer and step out into some sun. lol

Yes I would say that the grape leather is stiffer than, say, the plum of the Jackson double zip. This stiffness is suitable for this wallet, but the handbags may have a different handle; I don't know. It has a light shine, but not as shiney as the shine leathers or the oyster for that matter. I love it!

Your checkbook case is gorgy!! Almost looks like you could use it as a low-profile "regular" wallet, too... put bills in the flap used to hold the checkbook in. It'd work for different sized bills, too.

Good morning ladies, or evening for you I think. Anyway, I am so glad you enjoyed the pics and review of the lovely Emile.

Thanks to Merry for posting the grape pics! That was actually very helpful to me.

I am trying to decide which colour to go for next and thought the grape was way too kool aidey, but your pics show it as being quite a bit darker so it is back in the running. I love Yam, but for such a heavy traffic item, I am afraid it would be ruined in no time. My other Yam items all seem so delicate and so easy to scratch/mark up. Black is always useful, but boring. Grey is interesting, but a bit blase. So I guess I am down to Grape & Black.

About the phone, if I have the wallet stuffed there is no way it would close with the phone in it. It does fit inside as well BTW. The problem is that as the wallet gets more filled up, the corners become the furthest from each other. That is why I 'think' the new central snap will be an improvement and may help to close the wallet with the phone and all my crap!

Jenni - I think the grape looks great in the Lilly/Newman pic but it seems like that is a different leather - looks thicker and more pebbly so maybe takes the dye differently.

Might be... but it's pretty there, isn't it? I'm just not that tempted by any of the new hobos... have enough Lorcas... want to see the new colors of Havanas. Even with the adjusted Grape, which is pretty, I think I'm still drawn to the Aubergine and Grape Shine (if that's what the Havana will be called... the pop of the patent is great.) But I could see getting the (regular) Grape in something small like the Pass Case...

Yeah - I'm excited about seeing some of the shines in the bigger bags - like the trophy/trophy satchel/biblio/havanas. I think this Emile Clutch looks wonderful in terms of the organization aspect but in the current colour choices I think I'm leaning back to black.
