To be fair, I didn't do OBO, I bought and paid for it at the seller's orig asking price. So I think I can assume that no one else offered more than asking for it. I'm okay assuming that someone really did buy the bag moments before I clicked "Buy".
I bid on the same bag as you mangowife and also clicked on the "buy" option.
Seller wrote back that she is sorry (she is new at it) but someone bought it right before me. She was not sure why Bonanzle didn't mark the item as sold. When she woke this morning and saw they allowed the bag to to bought 3 times.

whtlight - She gave you more details than she gave me. That's cool, I guess. Bummer neither of us got it, though!

So, we know 2 out of 3 buyers... will the REAL BUYER please stand! Hope it's a HHHottie!!!

I messaged her why it was showing as available when it was already paid with paypal that is why she explained in details. We should of bid higher, the winner bid the same.

But Bonanzle is not a bidding site... it's not auction-style like eBay. There's no time countdown to when the listing ends. I believe it's just straight-up, "here's the item, here's the price I'm wililng to take, wanna buy?". When "OBO" is thrown in the mix, that may be where it gets tricky, because then it becomes "here's the item, here's the price I'm willing to take, but maybe I'm willing to sell it for a little less, wanna buy or make me an offer?".

In my opinion, buyers on Bonanzle have no motivaton to offer a higher price than what's listed... or at least, they shouldn't have motivation to do that. Unless I'm understanding the whole concept incorrectly.

Actually, there have been many cases where buyers have been motivated to bid higher. One instance stands out particularly in my recollection. I and several others on this forum bid on a Havana. It was $180 OBO. I treated it like eBay and bid $180. So did many others. The sale was finalized the next morning when it was sold to the best offter which was something like $300. That was my first introduction to Bonanzle's idiosyncrasies. The seller may sell for less... but then again, the seller may get double the offer and sell to that individual. It is all behind the scenes like a silent auction.

I would rather bid the listed offer price and know I've got it. In that respect, I feel eBay is a better system for buyers. I've also noticed that HH bags list a bit higher on Bonanzle which is odd, considering the fees are so much less. I have even seen the same item on both sites offered by the same buyer and be higher on Bonanzle.

Whoa. I didn't realize it actually happened... how did you know the seller sold it for $300?

I have noticed that HH bags are more on Bonanzle lately too and it annoys me. Why would I pay more on one site than the other? I can only think that they are putting the item at what they really want on Bonanzle and on eBay they are hoping that the item will go for that same high price after multiple bids.

Because fortunately it was won by one of our own HHHotties... so when we all lost and it went to one of our forum, it was OK. She had a DH wiser than us who caught on to the system and told her what to bid if she really wanted it - and he was right. There were like 3 or 4 of us that bid the opening price. I have to confess, I lowballed that opening bid. I think my offer had that seller laughing when it came in. I am not certain, but I think I could even feel that delete button go down.

That's fortunately unfortunate, RMC! Unfortunate for you because you didn't get the bag, but fortunate for another HHHottie, so at least it's being kept within the family.

What a wise (and sweet!) DH the other tPFer has...

I think a lot of it has to do with ebay fees - they're pretty high, especially if you offer buy it now...and bonanzle is dirt cheap so you can have a lower price!

Hells yeah, the black one! I would have loved it in yam but black is just as cool IMHO. I'm so excited to have scored it for so cheap.

How come no one has bid on the Black Lux Woven havana on ebay? I would bid on it but I spent all my handbag money.
