I will take photos of this gorgeous gray tomorrow when I'm in better light. However, I am contemplating returning the bag, so I haven't carried it yet. It still has the tags and the little coating 'dots' for each bit of hardware...this is a truly new bag!

This bag seems far more 'delicate' than I thought (hoped?) it would be. While it does have a stable base, and a decent amount of room, I'm worried that daily use with my heavy HP laptop will harm it or cause unnecessary wear. Note: I have to use a PC at work, which has a heavy power cord, too; I have a much smaller/lighter MacBook Pro for home but that's not what I carry every day. My hubby says it looks 'stuffed' when I put all my work stuff inside.

IF I return it, what are my options?
1) A no-brainer based on space and light weight would be the Ibiza flight tote. The problem: I don't love the look of the Ibiza and the style isn't 'me'!
2) I found a Beatrice Camille on Bonanza, and that might work, despite the obvious 'seasonal' aspect of the Paule Marrot print. It's definitely the right size! I just don't know about the weight, and whether it would be a good 'work bag.'
3) The Laura tote looks great on many levels, but there's no zipper closure, and so it's out for a commuter/frequent traveler like me. I don't want to be an easy target!
4) I heard rumblings that there may be a Corcovado in a non-leather coming soon. And if that's the case, should I simply wait for it?
5) What else? What am I missing?

If you have any other ideas for me, I'm totally open. And, an acceptable response could in fact be KEEP THE CORCOVADO and don't worry about it.

Thoughts, HHotties?

I think the Sonia is a terrific work bag.

Let's Go Caps!
SweetSusan, KEEP the Corovado and don't worry about it. Toni said that the pebbled leather is very durable and will wear very well. It's a workhorse. Now, what about the weight? Is it reasonable or will it cause you any problems. I would not worry about the leather though. The organization will serve as a work bag perfectly.

No new bag for mama
SweetSusan have u thought about the milton? I think Toni designed it to be a workhorse. Or even the Porter tote?? The milton is out of my budget for sure. I'd say the Sonia is a good size, but I wouldn't put a heavy laptop in that bag. First, I'm not sure it'd fit, and I just don't think the rolled handles would be easy on the shoulders if you fill it up.

Jennirane has posted some pics of her Beatrice stuffed to the gills with textbooks, water bottle, etc. I'll see if i can find a link when I'm on my PC. That said, if you're worried about weight damaging the bag, the Corc will def. be hardier than the Bea. Also the Bea has very little organization relative to the Corc. I find that stuff shifts around a lot in my Bea.

If you're carrying a laptop, my concern with the Corc would be the restrictive size of the opening. It would be a fight to get it in and out.

Take a look at the Sonia, Milton, and Porter, all of which are a great shape to carry a laptop. Sonia has a zipped centre compartment and two large side pockets, all plenty large enough and then some for laptop and documents.

Looking forward to your pix of the Corc!

First of all, HHotties are so helpful! Thank you.

Second, here is a photo that illustrates my concerns. The blue bag is my Urban Junket workhorse, the elephant gray one is my Linea Pelle DMT, which I carry at least a couple days each week, the you know the Corcovado!

1) My current workbag, which is great for organization and laptop protection, but is too of heavy and totally beat up, is an original Urban Junket bag. They no longer make it in leather but too make something really similar in a coated canvas. I got it for around $400, now the non-leather version is just over $100. I have carried this bag almost daily for 2 years, and it shows.

2) The Dylan Medium Tote is one of my favorite bags and is now a smooshy puddle of gooey leather. I love it, but it's seen better days. And it's not 'professional' enough to carry as a work bag when I see clients. Getting papers out of it is hilarious, since it's so broken-in. But I love this go-with-everything color, and I still use it often.

3) The Corcovado looks amazing, it's clearly built for organization, and I think it looks more put-together than either of the other bags. But is it too heavy and too small to be my 'ideal' laptop-and-papers-and-stuff bag?

I'm not convinced. I love it, but would I be better off getting a completely different (non HH) bag for work, and just getting another bag I love - a Havana Hobo or Tharpe Hobo in a color I don't home - to carry in addition to a more functional/boring laptop bag.

Or should I use the Corc for a workbag and learn not to overstuff? Or just keep it and use it as a handbag but not a daily laptop carrier. (Because you are right, the opening makes it a little tricky!)

ACK! I feel like a mess here. Thanks for listening and providing some counseling. I hope you offer reduced fees for total basket cases.

Oh, and here is the beautiful Phantom Pebble Corcovado on its own, in the Chicago spring sunshine. :-) Gorgeous, right?

SweetSusan -
Indeed, it is a beauty and FWIW, I think you should focus on getting the right bag for your needs and come to a decision on whether you want just a bag for your laptop OR one bag to do it all for you.
It appears that they have not expanded the opening of this bag and that would really be a deal breaker for me getting my stuff in/out with ease.
There WAS a bag called the Catalina that HH made years ago just for laptops and stuff.
Good luck!

for work bags I would always vote for something functional. Milton is pretty good. Tons of pockets and organization. It's actually great in black because it has such a great POP of colour when you open it up.

I decided to keep the Corcovado. It is gorgeous.

I mean, who says I can only have ONE work bag? And this will do it on most days.

To reward you all for your super helpful comments, I will share how I got to this place rather quickly. I decided to transfer into the Corc everything I carried home yesterday in my Urban Junket Robin (mine is a leather version of what they make now in non-leather, though mine is a bit bigger than those dimensions...maybe the leather stretched?). It all fit! Now, the opening isn't awesome for all this, but it did fit comfortably inside, and though my husband grimaced as I did this, he had to admit that it didn't look bad.

Admittedly, this would be too heavy to do every day. But I'm keeping this lovely Corc, all the same.

Here are the photos of what I carried today, both packed into the bag just as I arrived at the office, and then everything laid out on my desk.

WOW it's gorgeous. That holds a lot but I agree about the opening for as large of a bag as it is the opening isn't ideal for laptops which is a bummer because it really has potential to be a great work bag.

I think the corco also makes a great carry on/overnight bag.

I can see that a bit. I used to have a Large Sienna - gorgeous leather but the strap drop was too short to wear comfortably on the shoulder given the depth of the bag so bye-bye.
