Default Chicago Area Pilgrimage to HH... the stuff of dreams
I posted this in another thread, wanted to gauge interest...

My hubby has his private/commercial pilot's license. He's part of a charter club that rents out planes to its members out of Wheeling. If enough of us are really serious about going, he could rent the plane even just for the day, fly us in and out lickety split. No hotels to book, no security/wait times to deal w. I'd love to go but would prefer to split costs (and hang w. other hotties!).

Omg, if this became a reality, I'd

Annam, with what shipping to Canada costs, the savings in shipping alone pays for the gas. Just a bit of enabling...

Quick check-in...yup..I'm totally avoiding finishing house cleaning, bill paying, laundry-land (not as much fun as Disneyland..or Legoland btw)...and major holiday cook/bake fest...GO!!!

Not even slightly abashed enabling here..believe me..if there was any way I could do this as a NYC resident, I do it in a NY minute (which has about 31.3 seconds..or 66.4 seconds depending on the task at hand)...GOOOOOOOO!!!! and taunt me with your finds.

Chicas..some of the bags are really 1 of and few of...others will never be made at all..others are vintage finds that Toni and the design team used for inspiration..this really is a once in a lifetime chance to score some items that will be true treasures...and vintage collectibles in their own right...I'm dyin' here...dang it...there is no way I can go and stay true to myself...(she wails mournfully...and mutters...something under her breath about going to hell in a handbag???)

OK...one more quick post and this woman has GOT to continue doing drudgework.

So, that's 2, plus me... What day would be the best? 18th is tomorrow, so that's probably out. 19th is Saturday; 20th is Sunday. I'd probably be best on Sunday, and that'd give me time to find babysitting for ds1. (Ds2, 6 mo. would have to come along for the ride; he's never had a bottle/food and I wouldn't feel right leaving him, but he's a total flirt and a super sweetie.) Might be easier to meet at the airport, since Nikki's coming from Detroit (North of us).

I have some convincing to do on the hubby-front. He thinks it'll still be too expensive even if we split costs: he'd have to practice take-offs/landings before renting a plane--their standard protocall, private club and all--w. an instructor, plus he'd have to buy charts (maps) for all the area covered, from Chicago to New York, time planning the flight, taking into considerations the days weather and faa advisories (sometimes they close airspace for no apparent reason), and take off work for all of this, pay a sitter, aaaannnd bags/food/rental car/taxi(???) once we arrive....

He'll be waking up in a few hours, and I'll update this afternoon.

I am so tempted, Enga... my hubs is actually in NY today for a meeting... I can just imagine the conversation: "You're going where? With whom? To -- SHOP?! Jesus. [sorry but that's what he'd say] Um, Angie. You do know I'm a banker, and there's a recession, right? -- Wait, and you met these people WHERE? YOU ARE LEAVING ME AND THE KIDS TO GET ON A LITTLE TINY PLANE WITH PEOPLE YOU'VE NEVER MET AND SPEND ALL OUR MONEY?! WHO IS HE?!!!"

"Well, honey, he's Hayden Harnett. And I've already spent all our money."

LOL
