HA. That would do it! I soo miss NY, we had so much fun there before we had kids... Which reminds me - are you offering to babysit my three monsters??? LOL JUST KIDDING (and aren't you supposed to be doing laundry? me too! me too. sigh)

For those of you who haven't had kids yet and might in the future -- CONSIDER moving closer to family so they can fill in when you want to skip town!!

I know, MsA, oh, do I know.

My hubby's the most careful and suspicious I'd ever met, tho now I really appriciate it.

And, fwit, we do live close to (my) family--his is all abroad--and getting my dad to watch ds1 is like begging for some huge favor. He seriously doesn't take much interest in me or my fam unless he really has to. Guess that's what happens when a single dad has a gf who puts her own interests/family first in "their" life and doesn't value family ties herself. And we're even staying in his house atm while we house hunt (couldn't renew our lease on a month-to-month schedule, didn't want to sign for a year and try to get out of it later), and he's still not around. I can't wait until my mil can come over here to live w. us. Funny thing is, while I was living over there (and dad was single), he couldn't wait for us to move back to the States.

I am supposed to be doing laundry..I have a mound of "things to be folded and put away"..I decided that my kids are old enough to do that for themselves..so I am dumping the clean stuff on their beds..although knowing DS his mound will probably either be slept on or swept to the floor to co-mingle with his overflowing laundry basket (Maaaaa....I have no clean socks..um..sweetie..I don't see them in the laundry room..that's OK..I'm just going to buy another bag of new ones..and BTW..why IS it that I always have about 17 socks without mates??)

missangelina..if you can possibly do this..go..and sheesh..d'you think I wouldn't be going to the sale if I could be going.??? Dang it..and yes I would actually stay outside and watch those kids..once I finished my own shopping......I mean it..I still do this for friends..been there..done that..I have 3 of my own..live near parents..dad helped when he could..mom..ah..WTH..water under the bridge..I love her anyway.

Oh my gosh, a HH pilgrimage! We have plans to take the kids to Wisconsin Dells this weekend but if I broke away from hubs and the kids on Sunday, maybe...

I'll keep checking in to look for updates!

My DH already thought I was "funny" meeting up with cciele on a few shopping trips! I'd LOVE to hear/see his reaction if I was to tell him I'm flying to NYC with a bunch of HHHOTTIES for a pilgrimage. Part of me thinks he wouldn't be too surprised - after all, he sees how many HH boxes arrive at our door...

Right, my hubby should be offering to fly us all out instead of grumbling!

Gingey, I laughed out loud again at you (with you) - I hear you on the socks - why is that? And mom, too. My dad's all about the boys, my mom... not so much. Like Enga's dad RE: distance - my mom wanted me to have kids, but now they are here and she's hands-off. I've warned my sister...

Ah well. I'll keep checking in. I would really love to go. Thank you Enga and hubby for the invitation and the possibility!

That is exactly how my DS behaves! What is it with these guys, anyway? I taught him how to fold laundry when he was 3 or 4. My DH was a Montessori teacher. Sigh. How quickly they forget.

So... Chickies, I begged, I pleaded, I offered to clear out my IRA... he's sooo not game. Gave me the whole: bills to pay, home-hunting, blah blah....

Another time, ladies, probably post-move, I'll def. have him get our bag-laden bums off to Greenpoint for some serious shopping!

Thanks for messaging me, those gals that did. I'm too pooped to message you atm, babes need food and tucking in. Mama needs a nightcap...

My dejected self has totally been looking up fares for chi to nyc this Sun... actually, prices aren't that much different than renting our own.

From Expedia.com:

Total price for this trip: $480.20

Chicago (ORD)
Depart 6:04 am
Terminal 1
to New York (LGA)
Arrive 9:10 am
Terminal CENTRAL TERMINAL
725 mi
(1,167 km)
Duration: 2hr 6mn

Flight: 6748
Operated by: UNITED AIRLINES
Economy/Coach Class, Airbus A319
Please check in with UNITED. If checking in at a kiosk, use your name rather than confirmation number.
Total distance: 725 mi (1,167 km)
Total duration: 2hr 6mn

Sun 20-Sep-09

New York (LGA)
Depart 8:00 pm
Terminal CENTRAL TERMINAL
to Chicago (ORD)
Arrive 9:35 pm
Terminal 3
725 mi
(1,167 km)
Duration: 2hr 35mn

Flight: 363
Economy/Coach Class, S80
Total distance: 725 mi (1,167 km)
Total duration: 2hr 35mn

Google maps says that public transit to any of the three stores runs about 1 hour from the airport to there. A taxi ride would be 17 min, 30 in traffic (knowing Chicago traffic and trip times given by google maps, I'm chuckling to myself... 30 min! And on RH and Rahmadan...) So... 9 am to 8 pm in NYC... Someone should go! They could even hit up all three stores (from google maps, again, they look pretty close together).

Sigh, I wish this could've worked, ladies. I'm so sorry for getting everyone's hopes up.
