If we're not supposed to buy more than one, why the peter falk would there be language that to use 2 groupons @ HH, you need to spend $475 before shipping?
This is simply another example of not thinking things through, like the discount codes that still worked during a sale, etc. BTW - I get that you can't predict everything...and problems happen...but as many of the hotties have pointed out, simply saying "OOPS, sorry, this is not what we expected...."publicly goes a lonnnng way. IMHO, they were surprised at the low number of new customers, and think that they would have had all these sales anyway, without groupons. But, I think that's where the faulty logic comes in. We prolly spent more because we had groupons (and the warm and fuzzy feeling and excitement that went along with them.) Interesting that miami has only 5 customers. It's never this low. of course, now that I wrote that, the HH folks who are lurking will go have folks sign up and buy! I am not wishing negativity on them - just so wish they'd see how it takes so little to maintain customer sat and loyalty.... |

Now Groupon is accusing us for "abusing" them...wow, she is the one who came here and posted the deal and there wasn't any type of limitation- so they let us buy multiple groupons at a time then accuse for for abusing them...what else would we do other than using them???

^Is it forum members Groupon is accusing or is it eBay resellers? I can understand the suspicion if someone bought 10 groupons from each city, but how could someone buying one or two at a time be abuse?

we have all talked about varying degrees of anger/ frustration/ distrust/ confusion etc etc with HH lately, but is anyone hesitating about buying groupons of any sort again? I'd never used them before. I thought they would be like restaurant.com, which has its rules upfront always. And, that can make the coupons combersome sometimes to use, but usually worth it (at least when I am back home).... I havent decided yet for myself, but there will be some doubt there I am sure. This is all a way of pondering Lina's point about drawing new customers to HH. They are simultaneously drawing or pushing away customers (new and repeat) from groupons depending on one's risk aversion.

I have two left, for the time being I'm leaving it at that since the site doesn't even have what I wanted to use the Groupons to buy (Celines). We all expected the rules to be what we were told up front too, as you say, like any other coupon of that type.
Did anyone find out if the "new customers" means new-to-HH or new-to-Groupon? I haven't looked at the Groupon site discussion again. |

ITA w/Faf... I'm certainly not bummed by the "new customers" caveat on the Miami one. Who needs the headaches? I bought three, used one on my Koko & Celina
, one on my Grape Havana, and one on the Hawthorne/Black Celina/Biblio Tag order (this one is in the process of being refunded). So I'll be down to one in time for Thanksgiving sales or spring cuffs. And the bottom line is, they certainly won't be getting the massive cash infusion the last Groupon sales have netted them... will probably put us back in the realm of crazy good sales, IMHO. |

I wanted to get a groupon before the sale fiasco, but, am def turned off now. I would not be a first time customer to HH (I've bought just once from their website before) but I am new to groupons. Assuming (and we all know what to assume is!) that the groupon site means new to HH..so I count myself out.

i was talking more about the groupon site in general. i get tons of emails from the 1 site I did buy from (NY I think) with all sorts of discounts for salons, other stores, etc, usually local. obviously, if you dont live in a particular city it isn't going to work anyway, but let's say you do... i would still be a bit hesitant to purchase my day spa coupon:) just a thought.

Oh, I see, slegg! I know they hope to bring in new customers, but frankly, with this experience, I would only buy a groupon for a local store I was already familiar with. And for something that I knew I would use and not return. The return/refund issue makes me too nervous.

I would have bought one for a restaurant in Tampa (an hour away from us) because we have family there we visit regularly but I forgot to do it. Other than something like that I'm not buying much although I did send the information about Groupon to family who lives in cities that Groupon covers. It's not real convenient for me right now but I would buy again although I expect most things aren't something I'd buy more than one Groupon for.

I wonder how the money works between Groupon and HH. I know we all have our problems with HH but I feel like Groupon is at least partly to blame for this mess - esp. if by abuse they mean purchasing a bunch of Groupons. They did so many different sales you think Groupon could have caught and fixed it somewhere down the line. They only sold 400-500 total so could there really have been that much hoarding?
