yeah, i hope stormy's ok. she has been very helpful....
anyway, has any of you used pretreatment for a GZ trophy or pilot? i was wondering if it's safe to use wilson's TLC on them. also, what about goldrush leather? will tlc work for it as well or those leathers don't really need pretreatment? thanks! |

For jsg08, I dropped french fries on my saddle havana and used cornstarch to get the oil out. I put cornstarch on the spots, then laid paper towels and some magazines on top and left it overnight. I had to do it twice, but it came out. Since then, I've lived and let live. I've gotten oil on it so many times (including oil from lotions) but with the saddle leather I've found it eventually evens out again.

I just have a quick question overall for people who've used Wilsons TLC Leather Lotion. Is this sufficient to clean a bag of stains or do you need another product to clean, then condition. I ordered some from wilsons.com so I haven't tried it out yet! Thanks!

thanks xglam. I've given up on cornstarch. I'll just use it as it is and hope it evens out. I guess I can't baby the purse forever.

Wilson's Leather Care lotions say on the descriptions that its not to be used with nude leathers.
I have a Conrad in that soft, skin-like leather...which, according to another thread, is a "nude" leather. So...does that mean Wilson's should NOT be applied to the Conrad? I've already gotten one giant oil mark on it and im trying to prevent more...Any help would be awesome! |

^^^ I think someone already responded to that issue, but the upshot was that "naked" leather (HH) is NOT the same thing as "nude" leather (TLC).

Any thoughts on using LMB For Handles Only in addition to the TLC on my cord Wyeth Tote? Is it unnecessary to do both? The strap on my (untreated) hudson satchel got really grubby after a few summers of sitting on my shoulder and I would like to preserve this one as much as possible. thx! :)

Hi Stormy,
I'm new here and have been searching this thread on caring and treating HH Iznik Yellow, but haven't found anything in detail on this color. My Havana in Iznik Yellow has a few dark smudges. How do I get these out? It has never been treated with anything before. I also have a brand new Nico XX in Iznik Yellow, which I bought ages ago and have never used yet. It's also untreated. How do I begin with the Havana and what do I do for the Nico before I start using it? I also have the Dominique Satchel in Burgundy and have been using it untreated in the rain. It doesn't appear to be suffering from it, but what do I know? Should I treat the Dominique as well? I had a Bulga in Sage and abused it, and finally ditched it last summer. It was my I'm-free-of-diaper-bags purse and I did love it to death. But I do love these HH bags and would like them to enjoy longer, healthier lives. The leather seems more delicate on the HH Havana and Nico than the Bulga. Recently, I bought a HH Bowery Studded Mini Clutch in Violet. What are your suggestions for that? Again, I've not yet carried it. I feel so happy to have discovered this forum, and that so many people adore HH. But I am also feeling rather guilty for not properly caring for these bags. Oh, well...I guess better late than never! Any help you can give me will be much appreciated. Thank you in advance, Stormy, and all the other HH enthusiasts out there. I've enjoyed reading the postings very much!

Sorry if this has been addressed...I searched high and low and couldn't find the answer. I'm trying to buy some Wilson's TLC on ebay but I'm only finding 1 auction for the 4.7oz bottles where the bottle actually says "TLC" on it. There are many many auctions for the wilson's "Leather and suede protector spray" in 10oz size. Doesn't say TLC anywhere (that I can see) on the bottle. Are these products the same formulation? TIA!

Yes, they are. Wilson's puts out different size bottles, some aerosol and some not; I think that's where the confusion lies. As long as it says Wilson's Leather and Suede Protector Spray, you're good!

1) TLC Leather Lotion is the cleaner and conditioner - not to be used on suede, etc. You can see more info at: http://www.wilsonsleather.com/produc...entPage=family 2) TLC Leather & Suede Protector Spray is the stain and rain repellent. Obviously OK for suede. This comes in a pump bottle, not aerosol which is one of the things that makes it less toxic than the Apple Guarde spray. I would avoid the product on eBay, with or without TLC in the title, if it's an aerosol spray. Perhaps it's an older version of the product? HTH |

I wish we could still get Wilson's....
Since I ran out, I've been using the Kiwi and it seems pretty good though. I have both the Kiwi Protect All and the Kiwi Super Protector. I think the one that was recommended was the Kiwi Meltonian, but I couldn't find it at the time. I'm not sure what's the difference between that and the regular Protect All.

Thanks India and Sybaryte! I do know about the conditioning lotion and I'm not looking at that I'm looking at auctions with 2 different labels on the leather and suede protection spray. I think I will just grab both and see what I end up with. I suspected the difference between the 4.7 oz and the 10 oz might be because one is the aerosol and the other the pump spray but actually the auctions I've read don't specify so I'm not even sure which is which. I was just mainly confused by the fact that so many of the bottles don't say TLC on them. I'll just make sure to test them on something I don't care about ruining

***** XOXOXOXO to all my sweet sisters for your concerns during my absence, I missed you, too.*****
If everyone can be a little more patient, it may take me days to catch up. Let me try to work backwards..... Mule, Meltonian is another KIWI name. Himalyanmoon ,Iznik will clean up with Lexol. You can use anything or nothing at all on your Dominique. I posted earlier about that bag, if you try a search, you'll find more about Iznik, and metallic violet, too. Paeleaf, LMB for handles would be a great product for lighter colors and veg-tans (like Hudson) that you don't want to darken. Is your Wyeth Eucalyptus ? I left my cordovans alone. Mlinky, darling, when I am nude I am also quite naked, same as my favorite leathers.... nakkie cccChanel, you are correct, All unfinished and washed leathers come under the nude umbrella, only water-based products are safe ! Yatri. as noted earlier, most all 'rain & stain' protectors for suede and nubuck are pretty much the same. (Many are made in the same facility, and sent out for private labeling) The intended use stated on the label is what is important ~ and always test first. fifishin ~~ NOOOOO, do not treat the GZ !! The glaze is very delicate and would dull from a spray. Ditto Goldrush. to be continued... |
