Cherub- I hope you can get her clean. I just got my yam clara and now I'm really concerned about keeping her stain free.
Stormy- Thanks for the input, I will have to triple spray her before I take her out! I didn't realize the yam was so sensitive ![]() Jenni- I found one bottle of Wilson's TLC online but the stores around here all closed down. I'm glad your yam came clean. Do you find you really have to baby her? |

Yeah, she picks up a lot of denim transfer, but the TLC got so much of it off I can barely tell now... I'll double-spray the Wilson's protection when it warms up, and see how clean that keeps her.
You should go online to look for nearby Wilsons at outlet malls. They had a TON of the TLC lotion as well as the leather/suede spray (in both aerosol and pump). They might ship it to you??? I was at the outlet mall in Silverthorne, CO. |

Stormy, I had a question (you're such a treasure of info and generous help!!) I had my Tharpe (yam) on my shoulder when I went into Wilson's to buy the TLC lotion and spray, and both clerks assured me I was getting the right stuff to clean/protect that particular leather. But when I got home and read the bottle (lotion) it said "do not use on "Nude" leather". I went ahead and used it, and it seemed to work very well, but I thought I remembered somewhere the HH leather (yam, cordovan, etc.) being called "nude". Can you explain the terminology? Did I do something I shouldn't have?
Again, thanks so much for all the help you've given us!! |

Stormy, I just bought the Black Bronze Wizard Snake Ramone cuff. Any special care needed for that leather?

^Thanks Stormy. That's kind of what I thought, no products.

I tried to search to find out, but I couldn't find anything. I got a little bit of denim transfer on my saddle Barnard. I'm really hoping to be able to clean it, and maybe put some protector on it. I have a lot of HHs, but only recently had ones that seem a little fragile. So I have NO experience at all with all of these lotions, and conditioners talked about in this thread. Is TLC Lotion the correct product to use to clean and protect the saddle leather? Is there a better product for removing the blue denim transfer?
Thanks a bunch! |

I used the TLC spray on my Yam Clara and it worked great! I also bought the lotion but have not used it yet. I'm glad you posted on this so when I use my lotion, I know it's safe for yammie! |

The "nude" leather term means the leather is "naked" eg. the leather has been dyed, but not treated or finished. This gives it that soft, "skin" texture and matte finish, whereas finished leathers have a little more gloss to them. Some of the colors that HH uses are indeed naked (yam, GZ, BZ, cordovan come to mind) and so are a little more subject to changes over time than a finished leather would be. They may have been specifically warning about leather that is natural in color, which is sort of a pale beige--naked leather that is undyed is VERY subject to darkening from oils, etc which the cream would probably cause on that type.
Stormy can feel free to correct me or expand if I'm wrong on this, but that's my understanding. |

hi :)
i don't have any major catastrophes that i need help with, but i do have a couple of super basic, on-going care type questions: 1. i spray all of my bags (i don't have any patents, and one metallic, which is not sprayed) with wilson's leather before i start using them (2-3 coats). if i don't wait the listed two hours between coats, what happens? 2. in the normal course of events, i spray, then i use the bag (usually happily) for some length of time. i haven't had any of my nice leather bags (mostly HH, of course) for very long. so, i'm not sure of what to do next - assuming that nothing catastrophic happens and the bag stays reasonably clean :) do i need to use more spray regularly? i've actually never used the conditioner - i think i read that you suggested it 1x after winter. however, do i need to do anything before i use the conditioner? afterwards, do i need to respray three times again? i'm sorry. i actually just did read this entire thread but couldn't find much about super-basic care. probably because you all know already! thank you for your help :) |

1. It takes longer to dry, and dampening the leather with it is probably not the best, but I don't expect it would cause anything BAD to happen.
2. clean any bags before applying conditioner with a gentle cleaner like the TLC listed. I would reapply the protector after cleaning and conditioning. Stormy can better answer about respraying on a regular basis. |

Stormy, I know you have experience with the emerald goat corcovado bag. I was just lucky enough to get one, but couldn't find anything on general care for it (did several searches). What do you suggest? This is a bag I hope to use a lot, so I want to protect it as best I can.
