Thanks Stormy Maybe it is me or maybe the site, but everything I try to search comes up with 0 results That said, I would say you pretty much answered my questions quite succinctly. You're a gem! Thanks again!!!

Hello Stormy (:

I'm a newbie in HH bags and leather in general. Just ordered a Lorca in cordovan last week. From the pictures it doesn't seem it is glazed, right? So a spray would be fine? Also I had purchased Meguiar's Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner/Conditioner wipes for my fossil wallet. Is that ok to use for my Lorca?

Thank you!

Dear Stormy,

I recently purchased a Lorca in Violet Crinkle Patent and when it arrived it had a sticky substance on the top of the flap. It seems like something a price sticker would leave behind, if you will. I contacted HH customer service, and since they don't have a replacement to offer me at this time I've decided to keep it *if* I can somehow clean it without affecting the gloss of the patent. Is there a product readily available that is safe to use on sticker goo? I really LOVE my bag and want to take the very best care of it. I've already tried to rub some of the goo off with my finger and it seems like it's taking some of the patent leather's "sheen" with it. Help!

No, cordovan isn't glazed, and spray protectant is fine. It doesn't need a conditioner yet ! I've never met a new dried-out HH. The product you mention is a cleaner/moisture/sunscreen product. If it's all you have, please check a hidden area for color darkening/splotching before doing
a whole bag or wallet.
I'd gladly use Meguiar's on Ferrari !

Hi Stormy. I had to return the Sloane Blueberry that I purchased because the smell was noxious and made me ill. The smell was similar to that of some designer knock off jeans, a mix of spoiled milk and rotten meat Another TPF complained that her Ruby Lorca stank like "skunk butt". Do you think it was the dye that was used on this batch or perhaps the leather? As always, I'm grateful for your expert explanation, advice, suggestions etc. Happy New Year to you and yours..

So I just picked up the Lexol-pH Cleaner to use on my Cocoa Hudson Satchel. The leather is pretty soft--do I need to be worried about it causing any damage?

Nope.Lexol is effective and gentle. The Hudson may have a patina, so when you clean it you'll see a very fresh surface under the dirt. Follow up with the conditioner and she'll be like new. The formula is excellent for veg-tanned leather.

(Dear Stormy =),

I'm about to treat my Clara in yam with Kiwi's spray protectant... do I need to do anything special with the metal accents? Cover them and not spray them? Spray the entire bag but wipe off the metal areas immediately? Thank you!

I was about to ask the same thing. I've been wanting to use my yam Clara, but I haven't put anything on it yet. Should I buy rain repellant and spray it? Thanks in advance!

Yammies need protection. Kiwi is easy to find in most drugstores and leather shops.
Mangomommie, yes spray the whole bag and wipe off the metal.

Julie, I'm sorry I can't help without knowing what the substance is. It could be an adhesive used in HH factory.
You should get an in-person opinion from your local leather or shoe shop. The Boss should be able to identify and solve the problem for you.
If there is no color loss but the finish is compromised after removing the 'goo', a clear leather topcoat finish can be touched up, so don't worry.

Dear Stormy,
I just got my first HH which is a cordovan Sonia. I live in NYC so it will probably get caught in the rain/snow. What can I do to protect it without changing the look/feel of the leather at all? I am very unfamiliar with all of this so as many details as possible would be appreciated.
Also ordered a Black patent corcovado. Does anything have to be done to that?
