Sorry if I helped steer things off topic. Carlie I'm really happy to hear that they are coming through for you. It's such a pretty bag.

OH GB, my amiga/bag twin, please feel better, take care of you. Bravo for sticking up for yourself. Thank you to both you and Jenni for keeping this little thread engine on track. (Too much Thomas for me!)
I hope the busted shine leathers were the items confiscated by the Somali pirates. Is the new Taupe a shine leather officially? MIMI is in the newest IRL and she's wearing a TAUPE Ramone! I almost fell off of the couch seeing it! |

I just looked at pics of Nikki's yam shine hobo tote and it looks like the yam shine she has isn't as glossy as Carlie's biblio. So maybe it had a different coating in the first place.
~*~ Discuss HH Deals & Steals! ~*~ Where is mangowife and her grape shine TS? Has she had any problems or does she know about the peeling??? |

RMC - I think you're right. I think that yam IS the same on as the Franklin/Burke family. I just got confused for a second there. When I look at the yam shine havana pics I can definitely see the difference.
Okay so old yam is diff than new yam which is also different from yam shine. Got it. |

As horrified as I am to see Carlotta's pictures of her peeling bag I can only imagine how horrified they were at HH. It had to have been a difficult decision to change manufacturers in mid-stream but on the other hand it was the only honest, honorable thing they could do and says a lot for them. I don't think it was very honest or honorable to sell the sample items without full disclosure of possible problems etc but what's done is done and we're in possession of more information about how HH conducts business ~ in both good and bad ways ~ than before. I'm very glad for you Carlie, that you'll get a replacement!
It bothers me to see the lack of communication and what appears to be passing customers around w/ everyone saying it's someone elses's responsibility to do this or that about problems. From my own experience that's not the way to run a business or, at least, not the way I choose to run my business, but I've always said I like to be obeyed. ![]() I don't know how long HH has been around and there's always a lot more to learn but I will say that having employees, no matter how good they are, can be one of the lower points of being a business owner. Perhaps Toni expected to be able to devote her time and talents to design with someone else managing the business end of things, I don't know, but I guess we'll see what happens. I'd definitely say that I like the designs I've seen coming down the road and Toni definitely has talent. I hope they can get the problems worked out, sooner rather than later so we don't have to have these conversations forever.... ETA...I'm thinking I got off topic here....sorry.... |

Egad, I sure am behind in reading all of these threads.
I didn't know Grey Shine had even come out yet. Or do we know there was a problem with it because HH told us when the Grape Shine problem reared its ugly head? I'm not thrilled with the peeling problem (obviously). I was hankering for a Grey Shine Trophy Satchel (when are those supposed to appear, anyhow?), and while I do understand that the problem has been corrected, I still feel like I should wait until several others have bought Grey Shine bags and used them so we can see the wear-and-tear (or hopefully, the lack thereof) before I buy one myself. That's really disappointing. I've been an HH lover for 3 years now. I haven't been among those of y'all who are the well-known HHotties because the last couple of seasons haven't really done anything for me. However, this (still-) upcoming season had me excited. I was SO ready to jump back into the HH waters! Now, ugh, I think I need to wait it out. I DO hope they get back on the ball! ETA: I still have bags from the 2007 season that look fantastic. I hope they can get back to where they were with the quality and CS. |

Sally,
I may be confused (vodka...) but I THINK I'm following you (and agreeing)... yes, old Yam is different than the Burke/Franklin Yam that is up now, AND is different from the Yam Shine that we've seen pics of (in the Havana ref thread, for one.) PLUS there were, IMHO, two "Old" Yams... one that was much deeper and more orange, and one that was lighter, along the lines of Saddle, in the tan family. But it's promising to hear that a) they've taken responsibility for the issue AND for Carlie's bag and b) Hopefully the new Grape and Grey won't have the same peeling probs and c) sounds like they don't have evidence of similar probs in the Yam or Black... I know Gingey said she hasn't worn her Yam Shine Celina or carried her Yam Shine Lorca much, but I wish anyone that has a sample in Yam or Black Shine would give us a status report... |

If there were going to be that many yams I wish they had tried to come up with a few more names. There could've been the original Yam....then amber, apricot, butterscotch, bourbon.
Wish they had a teensy bit of imagination with the names. |

See... NOW you're talking. Before I decided on "poet" I wanted to be the person who named nail polishes, etc...
"Tan" Yam: Tan "Regular" Yam: Yam "New" Yam: Butterscotch "Yam Shine": Scotch (Not that washed-out excuse for "scotch" LP has... real, warm, woody amber scotch... yum) I do think (guilt guilt guilt) that the Yam Shine is/will be my favorite. I visit the Havana thread for those pics and just drool... it's like TCP but BETTER. It's like a prayer: please fix the coating problem. Please fix the coating problem. Please fix the coating problem. And I know there are MUCH more important things to pray about. |

Oops - stay on topic. I like your names. I'm just not sure why HH decided to stick with yam for 4 different leathers especially when there are 2 yams in this season alone. With grey there is: regular grey, grey zeus, euc, grey shine etc. Even the blacks got named: black zeus, black onyx etc.

Easy. There's something mystical about "yam". Do you do yams in Canada for the holidays?? Here it's all marshmallow and brown sugar (ick). I do yams with chipotles.
YUP. YANKING myself back on topic. Please let Sally finish her reports. There's nursin' to be DONE and these nurses need approval!! Please let Sally finish her reports! And while you're worried about the nursing to be done... think about the fondling of Yam Shine to be done.... |
