Hey Gingey,
You've made most of the points I was going to. It seems weird to me that they don't generally update website copy for either the sample sale things for the regular stuff. The listing for that vest still doesn't mention the mark which on colored suede I imagine would be very hard to impossible to remove. In any case it would make it worth a lot less than an unmarked piece. I was unhappy with my sample carry all this summer which I gifted out to another hottie. It was either used and had spills on it or defective in finish. Without listing the known problems with a piece I'd expect to receive something in EUC to GUC and that is often not the case.

I just wish that the website was less like the lookbook and had more specific information. If you look at some of the regular listings like the Bleecker there are customer comments about what the colors look like and which ones have which color trim and so forth. Many of them are like the conversations we have here about specifics because that info is absent on the website.

On the shipping front from China to the US though I may be more inclined to be more sympathetic. If the pieces are really made I can believe that there might be legitimate delays. With purchasing dropping a lot of manufacturers are doing slower shipping and I heard a report about goods heading to Europe from Asia actually by passing the Suez canal to go around Africa to save on canal fees.

I still think selling these defective samples when they were aware of the problem was not a right thing to do.
Right on target.

Bottom line for me, the Ben side of the house is incompetent, and I think I'm being polite in my choice of words since deceit and fraud also come to mind. And it's disingenuous of Toni to always pass the buck to Ben...unless she doesn't want to be in the design business much longer.

Syb, as the OP of the thread, I'll chime in and ask that you refrain from posting sweeping criticisms like this in this thread, especially ones that are disingenuous themselves by congratulating themselves on being polite while including frank accusations like that. The thread is for posting specific concerns and communications about the peeling leathers in question. If you truly believe you've been a victim of fraud, obviously this isn't the place to take care of it.

Thanks!

At the risk of syb claiming we two are ganging up on her I feel like I have to chime in here, jenni..ITA with you..and this is getting absurd...same situation yet again. GLOVES OFF! I am not in the mood to pussyfoot around here.

First with the Groupons and now this. Yes..we had fun during the Big Bang sale..but then it became less than fun..Oh..and please don't use the word HYPERBOLE again when it comes to anything I post, syb.

Why is it that no matter what I post in an attempt to pour oil on troubled waters...is there a need to get downright nasty?

Why do I even bother trying to open up a civilized discussion or explain anything...in fact..why do any of us at times? Is it something I ellicit? OK..no..that sounds too egotistical but I went through this once before on TPF and I am not the same newbie I was..so I'm going to say this..forem does mean opinions..it does NOT mean libel or slander..(and making remarks about Ben and Toni's personal life..and about their new puppy...).how is THAT appropriate to TPF????

NO THIS IS NOT HYPERBOLE..look it up..unless you have concrete evidence that this was done deliberately to defraud and mislead..do NOT do this.

Ahh...Forget it, I am no longer going to post anything on TPF. I think I need a break. At the very least, I will keep all my conversations with anyone at HH off here since it appears that no matter what, the flinging around of words like fraud, deceit begins...ditto speculation....like during GROUPONGATE..HH is going out of busines..that's why they are offering Groupons...this is NOT the place for mudslinging..nor is it the thread for it either..this is about the issues of Shine leather..PERIOD.

although when I think of it..perhaps I am doing this here..so I'm done..no mas... so, syb..post away...Carry on...yes indeed...carry on. This is a new low and I hope this thread gets shut down by Swanky..because of this rancor.

This time I am NOT going to pull my post because I believe it is a bit harsh..I KNOW it is a bit harsh..and I'm keeping it here..no need to copy and paste it for posterity..and in fact..if you want..I will report MYSELF to Swanky..

At the very least..HH did recognize that there was an issue with the Grape Shine and the Grey Shine..and ditto with the manufacturing process..and rather than pawn off less than perfect goods, they opted to cancel production and change manufacturers..and THAT had to be a hard business decision to make..

OK..yes there was a lack of communication..yes there have been issues with samples...doesn't LP post a general disclaimer about samples during THEIR sample sale with nothing specific about each item..and CAVEAT EMPTOR..???

Carlie, honeybun..I hope you get resolution.

Happy..now....you got a rise out of me at last..blame it on the meds..I don't give a darn. TTFN..I'm DONE!

EDITED FOR THIS REASON: OH..don't bother to report me..I already reported myself!

Gingeybear and everyone, I feel badly that I opened up a can of worms here. Didn't mean to do that at all. I apologize.

Oh Sweetie, you didn't do anything but offer a specific concern/outrage (and rightfully so) about the fact that they should have disclosed the peeling issue. You were absolutely right! You have nothing to be sorry for

I was just trying to keep us focused on the specific issue at hand and sweeping accusations (as opposed to what you wrote) are neither helpful nor appropriate. I've been taken aback by the rumors people have started, the personal attacks, and these accusations of fraud... I'm surprised the moderators haven't stepped in and pointed out that they are not appropriate. But of course if a customer does feel that she is a victim of fraud, it should be investigated. I just meant that this wasn't the place for that...

You made a very good point, and I hope that they refund Carlie's purchase... I'll post here what I find out about the cuff. It was certainly less expensive, and I understand "sample" means something, but I'd like a partial refund, I guess...

And JUST as I posted... Carlie just posted on the Biblio thread that HH will be replacing the Biblio when the new ones arrive, and has been assured that the peeling issue has been taken care of

Great news!

Pigalle- ITA with jenn. Your point was very valid and openly discussed.
but any issues of "fraud" should be placed in a different thread or taken up the the Better Business Bureau. It has nothing to do with shine leathers.

ETA: WOW that is great that they are replacing it! That is awesome news about the leather!

And wow...I'm way behind on this thread. Do you still want me to post pics, or is that rather pointless now? ladies.

Pics would be great! I still think we should use this thread to keep track of this problem. Sounds like they know about it, are taking steps to deal with it etc. But still - it is good to have a forum to talk about problems in case others crop up.

Hugs to Jenni and Gingey for keeping us on track and civilized.

ITA, Carlie... if it's not too much trouble, go ahead and post pics here too. I copied your post about their response (hope that was okay!) but Sally's right that it's important to have a "record" of everything in one place... HOPEFULLY the issue has been taken care of, but if it does crop up again, we could compare photos to see if it seems to be the same problem.

And I'm SO glad they're replacing the bag! (Do you get to keep the sample until??)

^Yes!!! Which I'm thrilled about, because honestly I've had no desire to use any other bag since I got it. I'll go find the pics and post them here.

**Keep in mind that these pics are of the Sample Biblio, not the actual production ones. Just wanted to add that for anyone who sees these in the future in case this thread sticks around for awhile.**
