Opinions on this Givenchy pebbled tote? Google hasn't turned up any pictures of people actually wearing it so I don't really know how it'll actually look. Does anyone own it or have seen it in real life?
http://www.barneys.com/Large%20Pebbl...efault,pd.html http://www.mytheresa.com/shop/produc...rency_code=USD I'm looking to purchase my first designer bag so I was wondering if I should go Givenchy or Yves Saint Laurent. I was eyeing the Tribute as well as the Easy Y. Thoughts? TIA |

I don't care for this one. . . sorry
![]() The bag is so big not to be able to carry it on the shoulder - proportion is skewed for that reason IMO. |

not a fan either, the shape and length of handles doesn't look friendly.

^really? I thought it would be a nice classic tote. The barney's one is the "large" - I will most likely go for the medium. Problem is that I'm based in Australia so we don't get a lot of the stock here which means I have to purchase online. Kind of daunting as it would by my first big bag purchase and I don't want to make any mistakes. Hence if ANYONE has seen it in real life I'd love to know how it actually looks! Google isn't pulling up any images for me - maybe it's a new release?

I really like it, but I agree that if it doesn't work for over-the-shoulder than you should skip it and go for a YSL bag.

I have returned a few Givenchy bags that I have ordered because of the size. They were HUGE and could not be worn over the shoulder. That gets old very quickly.

ITA! I think it's misproportioned but everyone has their own taste. If you want to see photos of people wearing it, I think I saw it a couple of days ago on bagsnob.com

I think you should try it and see. The leather is great for a casual bag and it should just get better with age. I have only heard good things about Givenchy bags eve though I can't recommend them personally.

Do you have the dimensions of the medium size? The 23" height of the large is scaring me, and coupled with the fact that it really can't be carried on the shoulder, I'd probably pass on it. A good tote should be one that can be handheld without touching the ground, yet still with a strap drop long enough that it can fit on the shoulder if necessary, IMHO. After all, you never know when you may need to carry your tote on your shoulder instead of in your hand!

Thumbs way down. The handle looks too short for it to be carried on one's shoulder if one wants. And due to the shape, the contents of the bag will most likely end up at the bottom making it difficult to fish items out. In that price range, I'm sure there's a wide range of bags to look into and that will most likely be better designed.
Try www.belenechandia.com and design your own bag. I'm totally satisfied with mine. |

starkfan, the medium is 38cms wides by 34cms high, which is pretty moderate. The YSL tribute was like 40 X 40 and that kind of scared me a bit. The large 23" definitely puts me off too!
Am heading to bagsnob.com to see if I can source any snapshots of it being worn. EDIT* Okay, just noticed that the handle drop is only 15cms - kind of small. Damn! Might wait to see if it goes on sale. Thanks everyone! |

Nice (I like simple design) but a bit too plain even for my taste and also slightly disproportionate.... If really cannot be carried on the shoulder, then I would really forget about it.
