that's really pathetic. i hate people who carry fakes.. i really REALLY hate people who carry fakes and say 'look i bought the same purse as you! except mine was $60 and yours was $2000, i bet nobody will be able to tell the difference.. i'm SUCH a smart shopper' **end rant**
that being said, i'd just leave it..

In NYC, we can call 311 to report the sale of counterfeit items, either by vendors on the street or in stores. Is there any local agency in your area handle those issue?

Wouldnt it be more constructive to hate murderers and child molesters instead of people who carry fake bags??

i'd report it to first the university and then to the local authorities that handle counterfeiting crimes.

it's one thing to walk the other way when you see a college student carrying a fake, but the entire industry that produces these is so unsavory, with so much going on that it is good to be helpful and bring the authorities in to investigate when it is an actual vendor going to be there.

I would hate to see anyone get into any trouble because it seemed ok to buy a fake purse because it is a school sanctioned event.

I see.. you know, I wish it was just a matter of fashion choice.

Its one thing to turn my head and not buy it, but its another thing to have a university who has strict policies about plagiarism say that its ok to purchase counterfeit goods but not counterfeit papers?

AND for crying out loud...ITS ILLEGAL!

Although I agree that it's really crappy to have fake bags sold on campus, TONS of illegal things happen at universities and no one calls those in.

I think the best you can do is to make sure none of your friends fall "victim" to the bags.

We have them at my university too. They physically sell em though in a store on campus, which needless to say is bizarre, but whatever makes the university money, i suppose

illegal things may happen at universities, but they are not university sanctioned and sponsored. I agree with the OP that this is an issue; if nothing else, you can write to the Dean of Students to at least call attention to the illegality of this, and the hypocrisy the university displays in allowing it. I have seen university policy (on other subjects) changed for the better because students rightly have called the administration out on policies that allowed unethical or, (what is usually the case in my area) un-environmental.

It's only illegal if it has the designer's name attached to it. Sort of like buying a purse with a coach design but has Roach on the lable. It's very tacky. Very tacky. Very, very tacky and I don't even want to know a person who would sell fakes.

Here's one even better! Our Hospital Axillary sponsored a "designer inspired" purse event over three days this past summer! Advertised it in the paper, over the television, ads around town and so forth! I admit several friends and I went out of curiosity to see exactly what 'designer inspired' meant...in this case...the purses were blatant knock-offs of many brands without any labels attached. (at least they didn't try to sell "roach" as "coach" haha!) In my naivete, I guess I thought certain establishments that try to exude authority (like a hospital or an university!) would not want to be associated with this type of illegal behavior. Certainly gives the feeling that condoning this behavior is OK in certain circumstances, doesn't it?
